Casing Questions Experienced Please Help!

Ok here goes...
I have two eq casings that are not really producing like I had expected
I used 4 1/2 pt jars, broken up and cased w/ verm, triple phos, lime, cow poop,
I only had what appeared as only 1 flush, I really could not tell,
its not like all the mushies came up at once, the total dry weight was 1 oz
I was wondering what I should do with the casings:
are they exausted?
do I recase? if so is the casing I used ok? suggestions on casing material?
does recasing require rebreaking up the mycelium?
how can I increase yeilds/flushes? attain even pinsets?
Please Help!

Triple phos? That sounds like a problem. What does it mean?

Super Triple Phosphate 0-46-0
I added a 1/4 Table spoon to each casing, is that bad?

why did you add super triple phosphate? just curious.
since you have used cow poop in the casing layer and you are fruiting equadors, which are a fairly aggressive spore race, i wouldn't doubt you have a overlay probelem preventing your second flush from pinning. dung is primarily used as a substrate and the cased with you favorite casing recipe. is the top layer of your casing almost completely cover with mycelium?

actually I think I have underlay if there is such a thing, there is no mycleum covering the soil, the mushies just pop through the soil in a few spots
the mycelium is not taking over the soil but there is no visible contams
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

poop in the casing sounds like a major contam threat to me.

^^^^ ???
well your casing is definitely not exhausted after one flush. i harvested 5 shrooms this morning from my seventh flush of some hawaiians that just won't quit!!! after you harvest a flush mist the casing thoroughly and leave it alone, when it starts to pin again, start fanning again, and over & over. after every third or fourth flush i like to remove the top layer of casing and recase with fresh sterilized materials. this adds so much life to a casing. as long as it has enough nutrients and water it will continue to produce. don't let your shrooms sporulate for long before harvesting unless you plan on recasing after that flush (this is the flush i usually take prints from, because they seem to be fewer fruits by the third flush but larger fruits.)
but i still want to know what the deal is on the triple phosphate.

Seven flushes??? Ok, girl, what's your secret? I'm getting some beautiful flushes, but I'm only getting 3-4 before I typically experience contamination, sometimes less.
Can you give a quick rundown on your methods regarding casing method/sterility? I'm using Jiffy Mix w/oyster shell casing, microwaved for 10 minutes on high and cooled before using. I store leftover casing in sealed tupperware in the fridge and use as needed. The last few attacks of the green definitely originated in the casing, rather than the substrate. If you have any idea what I might be doing wrong, please post or pm. The greenies are starting to piss me off.

sorry to butt in, but...hehe.. i'm using the schultz version of jiffymix and am having the same problems. my current hypothesis is that the plant food in the jiffymix feeds green mold. i figure green=chlorophyll=need for N-P-K. i haven't got a chance to test this yet, though. anyone more edumacated than i, feel free to step in and set me straight.

hey, babyshroom!
yeah, you remember those casings i posted about a while back, from the hawaiian print you sent me. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=582394&Search=true&Forum=All_Forums&Words=XAZIA&Match=Username&Searchpage=6&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=576812. i pour verm in a big bowl and wet it, strain it, and put in a glass casserole dish with foil on top. do the same with sphagnum peat moss. then i sterilize it in the oven. i case directly into sterilite/rubbermaid container. but i do not mix the verm and peat (not laziness, i just don't have a bowl big enough to hold both the verm and peat mixed together). instead i sprinkle a little verm then sprinkle a little peat. i make a bottom layer about a inch thick, then i have a inch & a half layer of dung/straw that was spawned with birdseed. then i spread top casing layer one inch thick on top.
and like i said before, recasing, imo, helps fight against contams, revitalizes the casing, and we have all let spores get a little out of hand at least once before harvesting. if you take prints on the flush you recase after you can let your shrooms start to some heavy dropping before you harvest for printing.
i also have a dilution of h2o2 that i mist with. maybe you should mix your casing recipe as needed instead of ahead of time.

Well, I'm going to try your method on my next batch, then. I have verm & peat moss, just been using the Jiffy because it's so easy - already mixed, lime in there, etc.... So you're doing really well without any lime or oyster shell....are your shrooms falling over at all? I had quite a bit of trouble with toppling shroomies until I added oyster shell. Sounds like your top layer is a little deeper than mine - maybe that's part of my problem. I'm glad the print worked out so well and gave you so many babies. I have a couple of new strains I'm fixing to try - I'll pm when I have some prints and maybe we can trade something.
Thanks!!!
