This is just as bad as his statement - why would you compare the activity and amounts of chemicals in an ounce of marijuana to the activity and amounts of chemicals in an ounce of (undetermined) mushrooms?

They're DIFFERENT - PERIOD.

you take an ounce of shrooms your going to OD, IE have a bad experience, or at least you would on the shit that im growing.

shrooms are nothing like DMT, and it couldnt even compare. for an extra 4-HO hanging off the DMT molecule, it sure makes a world of difference.

shit, if i could produce shrooms minus the 4-HO, i would gladly do so.

Well thanks for the responses, but I didn't meant to invoke a vicious debate on whether marijuana or mushrooms are worse.

I guess I'm really worried that my brain chemistry will get destroyed from psilocybin. With marijuana, my short term memory and ability to concentrate completely detereorates for a few days afterwards. Is there any chance of this happening with mushrooms? Could taking mushrooms worsen my ability to focus on reality like marijuana does to me?

I don't think this at all. I was wondering if marijuana and mushrooms would affect my brain chemistry in a similar way because if so, then I wouldn't want to take mushrooms due to the fact that marijuana zombifies me, supresses my senses and creativity, and leaves me burnt out for days with impaired focus on reality and short term memory.

I want to be able to take mushrooms but I don't want to have an impaired focus, memory, or feel zombified. I want to be a psychonaut and explore my mind. My question remains.

I find that for myself I feel refreshed the next day after mushrooms. After a 7/8 hour trip I am tired, and I do feel the need to sleep. I would not call it a burnt out zombified feeling, but one of just being tired.

I like to smoke a J at the end of the trip to help me get to bed. I find that after tripping on acid/mushrooms weed feels different than just by itself, you might want to have a pipe with a small amount of weed in there to help you to bed if you are having sleeping problems. But based on how you get with weed, only you will know if you would like some or not.

But don't let any bad experiences with one substance effect your judgment on another. and have fun!

Just start of low, and work your way up to a comfortable level.
Take 1gr, ur first time, then move up in .5 increments.

Well, there isn't a gaurantee that 1 gram won't affect me negatively or have negative mental consequences. I've read stories about people having difficult experiences with 1 gram.

From mushrooms, you dont get the clouded thoughts and you arent as stupid as you would be from smoking weed. Of course you can get easily confused with shrooms, but its not like weed where you are just dull and boring and stupid.

Interesting find though because I never came to a conclusion within the thread.  However, I have since tripped mushrooms many times, tried cannabis a few more times, and have come to a few very sound conclusions:

1) I still hate cannabis and never care to partake in any cannabinoids ever again.
2) Mushrooms are fucking incredible and almost nothing like cannabis.

^ to each their own. Just don't knock on weed cuz in all likely hood you smoked some wack schwag. If you smoked dank medical bud I don't know you might very well think differently. Some of the higher potency quality grown hydroponic sativa produce a threshold psychedelic experience and you can very well experience mind expansion instead of the effects you described.

I didn't knock weed, but it is certainly overrated and not completely safe.  I have smoked cannabis plenty of times and have smoked a multitude of different types and "grades" of the plant material.  In the end, they all have the same basic effects and these are effects which I find extraordinarily unappealing.

As for the schwag comment, the most enjoyable cannabis I ever smoked was sold to me as "schwag" and obviously very cheap.  The effects from this "schwag" cannabis were considerably more enjoyable than any other type or grade of cannabis I tried.
