Correlation between marijuana effects and mushroom...
    #4256750 - 06/04/05 07:39 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I have a serious question that I'm going to try to word correctly...

Well I used to smoke marijuana, but plan on never doing it again and haven't for about 8 months. The reason I quit was because I didn't get a pleasurable high like everyone else, instead I always got this extremely zombified state where my senses seem to be rather dulled. After I smoked, I was generally burnt out feeling for longer than 24 hours. Hence, I have no desire to ever take part in using cannabis again.

So my question comes from my long-standing interest in experiencing mushrooms. I'm extremely cautious when it comes to psychadelics, so naturally I've been reading trip report after trip report and trying to find about all the worst-case scenarios and long term effects of mushrooms. My question here is that, based on my past experience with THC, would I likely have a zombified, miserable 'trip' that would leave me dull and burnt out for hours or days? I'm super interested in experiencing this drug, even if I have a nightmarish trip, but I'm not willing to experience psilocybin if it's going to fuck my mind up permanently.

mushrooms? no way in hell.

i think i know what your problem may have been with weed. Their are two different types of weed (in general). One has a spicier smell, and produced a more sedated gluttonous crappy high, and this is more common because growers pick the bud after it has matured as to get max potentcy, however the cannibinol levels increase as the THCV levels decrease when it is allowed to mature. the cannibinols create this sedated effect. when bud is picked earlier in the cycle, it has a sweeter smell from the increased amount of THCV, which produced a energetic imaginative high, but it does not contain as much THC as the more mature bud, so its less common to find, which is why i would suggest to grow it yourself to achieve the desired product.

my point in writing this is that you shouldnt give up on weed cause youve smoked/eaten some crappy stuff. theirs alot of crappy drugs floating around out there, you just have to strive to get to where you want to go.

i don't know about that

there are 2 main types of weed

indica and sativa

generally indica gives you the couchlook non visual plastered high while the sativa is a lighter more psychedelic and creative buzz. most weed these days is a mix of the 2. if you are lucky enough to grow your own you can select strains that you like but usually growers get a tolerance to their own buds

Exactly.. If you pick your buds immature, they will just be immature, and not as strong.. If you grow Sativa, it is a more trippy high, less body oriented. Indica is typically a more Sedated medicinal buzz.. My personal fav is strains that are both Indica and Sativa, from Blueberry 80% Indica 20% Sativa to Orange Bud, which is mainly Sativa..

Ahh and to the original question in this thread, mushrooms are nothing like pot. They can be very intense introspective, visual, and produce more thinking than anyone is prepared to deal with, but instead of a 'come down' there is an 'afterglow' you usually feel like you have learned/seen something so metaphysically important or amazing that it will change your life for the better.

The only time I've felt 'zombified' from mush is when they kept me up all night, and I had things to do in the morning.. But that's just sleep deprivation

Cannabinoids (such as the active chemicals in marijuana) work on the CB1 and CB2 receptors in your body.

Hallucinogens (such as Psilocin in mushrooms (indirectly, by the Psilocybin)) work on the, I believe, seratonin receptors in your brain.

Salvinorin A (in Salvia Divinorum), which is, I believe, a tropane, works on another set of receptors.

Basically, with all these different chemicals using different receptor sets, you can expect them all to have different effects on any one individual.

As to why pot is more of a downer for you, it may indeed be due to an indica dominance - you won't really know until you get a pure sativa and decide THAT'S the high you want (and I'd be inclined to agree with you, myself); however, it may also be due to the simple fact that every drug affects every person differently. Pot just may not be your bag, biologically, man.

Weed and mushrooms are completely different drugs. You're likely to get very thoughtful, and your senses will be enhanced, not dulled. do a sensible dose, with a good set and setting and you should have a great time.

I think that Salvinorin works on GABBA receptors.

I react very bad on marijuana, mind-loops, feeling like im sinking
more and more, lots of this and I have thrown up alot when using it.
Mushrooms on the other hand works way better for me.
It can get scary on 4g trips but not in a way I would consider negative.

A few tiny tokes works (unsure if there are any effects), but no more than that. On uppers like MDMA & BZP I can smoke any amount.

I can get sick from sitting in warm cars too long aswell. Might have something to do with the balance?

Salvinorin A is a neoclerodane terpene (NOT AN ALKALOID ,AS TROPANES ARE) that works selectively is a kappa opioid agonist. Its NOT an opioid and DOES NOT bear any resemblance to opium whatsoever.

On mushrooms: My dear friend,if you want to experience mushrooms ask yourself why.Drugs dont just randomly "fuck up" people! Behind each "fucked up brain" and behind each fucked up experience you can usually find incorect preperation and abuse.Check not to fall on those two categories and you will be ok.

actually weed takes you much further than mushrooms can, it all depends on how good of a psychonaut you are. do 1 ounce weed per 1 1/2 stick butter, and melt as much as you can into a cookie, that will show you the true power of cannabis.

Pardon? Do you mean to say you eat an ounce of weed, and a stick and a half of butter, melted into a cookie?

Wow. That is something.

um no, im giving a cannabutter ratio. im saying once you get this, to melt as much of it you can into a cookie or two.

not that anyone would know how to do something like that, most people just take enough for thier "social" high.

the only way to get a semi-heroic dose smoking, is to stop smoking for at least a few weeks and then take 3 gravity hits off some HQ sativa.

You have DMT in your avatar, and you say marijuana can take you further than mushrooms? Mushrooms are basically like orally active DMT, how can you say pot can take you further? Pot and mushrooms seem to operate on different areas of the brain.

Ha, and to tell you the truth, depending on how experienced and skillful you are in navigating psychdedlic space, mushrooms are much more powerful than mariujuana. Not only in the active dosage range, but also as you up the dosage. You go and eat your ounce cookie and then go try an ounce of dried shrooms, then come back and tell us the marijuana took you further. :mrt: :strokebeard:
