5-htp and mushrooms

Hey guys, i have been suffering with anxiety for a long time and i tripped once before and took about 1.5 or less of mushrooms and had a pretty good trip. Now i'm thinking about tripping for a second time and going to up the dose(maybe like 2.5 g), but i am afraid that i might have a bad trip. So i'm about to start taking 5-htp to help with my anxiety and i would like to know how do you think tkaing 5-htp before my trip will make it better or worst?

if i'm not mistaken (and someone please correct me if i'm incorrect), 5-htp aids in the creation of serotonin (5-ht), as it is a precursor. psilocybin and psilocin work off the serotonin receptors, and, i believe, boot whatever serotonin that is connected to these receptors out. due to this, you probably would not notice any difference. it probably would be helpful to continue taking the 5-htp after the trip, however, to help replenish what serotonin needs to be re-synthesized in your brain.

a lot of people complain about being less sensitive to mushrooms while on anti-depressants.
this may happen with 5 htp if it aids in the creation of serotonin like pine says
if this hypothesis is true, you may have a much more mild trip, or no trip at all.

I don't think 5-htp is like most other anti-depressants.
It's a whole 'nother breed of chemical reaction i thought...?

But anyway.
I think you should take 'em daily several days leading up to the trip,
and several days after the trip.  Even if the 5-htp isn't "noticable" while your in the process of tripping... :3rd_eye: (why would it be? :smirk: ) it would defnitely improve you're neurochemistry and general well being during that general time frame.
