Factors in achieving rhizomorhic growth on agar
    #422853 - 10/12/01 04:17 AM (23 years, 3 months ago)

Anyone know what factors influence rhizomorhic growth from tissue culture on agar.

I notice that on many clone attempts that the reculting mycelial growth is intermediate - slightly ropey but very dense.

Is it a random thing that requires multiple samples or does the agar recipe make a difference?

Is there anyway to get that intermediate mycelium to turn more rhizomorphic?

Any pointers much appreciated

My friend, she used malt extract agar (mixed from actual agar agar, malt extract, yeast and like 1ml of H2O2). There was rhizo growth from the first tissue samples she introduced, but the multispore was, of course, cottony, rhizo, etc...everything in there. She just transfers the rhizo part to another dish and voila! Its all rhizo from there! Woohoo!!
