why is it so hard for people to accept drug use?

long story short, was talking to this lady and she just couldn't understand why i smoke. i explained her alot of reason. just a general question, why is it so hard for people (non-drug users) to understand why drug users use drugs?

In general i think drug culture is largely misrepresented or perhaps inherently negative in the greater whole.

Of course.. im not going to argue about the inherent vitue's of the pharmaceutical, tobacco, alcohol, redbull-type-drink industries (laughs)

However, as a reasonably seasoned drug user.. ive seen about 90% negative abuses/uses of drugs over the years (conservative estimate.), wether its greedy coke/smack/e dealers, a pill addicted mother, coke snorting fathers, chronic kids who say *fuck school and society* and get lost along the way, or myself and my shroomery-online community compatriots - drugs very often take control of the person or misdirect/redirect the person.

Considering myself as a heavy drug user (sigh)... just think of the perspecitve of most unexperienced propaghnda believing normal citizens and their perceptions and resources of drug use(rs).

They eather have had love ones that have died to to drug use, or they have seen what happens to generations that use drugs. Or they tried it got sick and hated it ever sine. Or there are people who have wasted half there life away doing nothing but drugs and inorder to be ontop of their game they had to become antidrug. There are many many reasons for anti users. Im pro choice and hardly a user any more. trip maybe twice a year smoke maybe once a week and dont beleave in the use of chemicals do to knowing first hand what happens even with vary modest use. Not saying all chems are bad i love most of them just the ones that grab you by the balls after using even modestly.

Its just like how some people choose to hate some choose to love, some choose to become priests some choose to become serial killers there is really know reason other then we are al unuique and have our own views of the world. We just got to realise that and not get cought up in who is right and who is wrong. Just be who you are.

  • stupid users stick out more than responsible ones
  • negative stereotypes
  • it's illegal (oh snap!)
  • they want a reason to feel "above" you
  • bad experiences w/ them (or maybe a family member died from a certain drug so now they're completely anti-drug)
  • cuz teh white house said marijuana makes yu a dumee!

just say you enjoy the realaxing feeling when you do and it helps you cope with life..and tell her that drugs are fun, tell her to try them sometime...it helps you cope with stress in your life..

why cant you cope sober? Using something to hide from something is no reason to do drugs. Be a soldier stand strong on your own two feet. Do it for the fuck of it. Not as a crutch.

Thats how non users look at it when you say you need it to cope, all you have really done is build a dependency on a chemical to get you threw the day.

You know, not only should all drugs be legal but they should be provided for free by the government. Why can't people accept drug use? People have been getting high for as long as we have been able to record history. It's obviously a part of human nature. Instead of making drugs expensive and criminal they should be free and legal. Even herion and crack. If they were legal and free the only one who would get hurt would be the user. And that is a matter of personal choice, even with addiction.
