    #4189028 - 05/17/05 11:34 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

i use:
adblock
Minimize to Tray - right click on minimize and it sends firefox (and thunderbird) to the systray
SessionSaver - when you close firefox, upon reopening it reloades all the tabs that were previously open
Tabbrowser Preferences
ieview - Adds "View page in Internet Explorer" links to the content and link context menu.
ColorZilla - you can get a color reading from any point in your browser, quickly adjust this color and paste it into another program.
ViewSourceWith - View page source with external editor

what are some other usefull extensions that you guys use?

adblock [blocks banner ads, obviously]

tabbrowser preferences [tab management]

download statusbar [puts the download manager into the statusbar - pretty cool]

context search [highlight and right-click any word and you can search with your search engines - essential]

stop-or-reload button [turns the stop/reload button into one button]

the cleaner [cleans all private info like history, cookies, cache, etc. in one click]

After I saw it on Slashdot a couple days ago I've been fooling around with greasemonkey. It's an extension that let's you insert your own javascript code into ANY web page. So you can basically change any aspect of a web site to your liking, and it'll load up like that each time.

Oh, and Mouse Gestures and UndoCloseTab are a must.

These are my essential extensions:

Adblock - Filters ads from web-pages.
Auto Copy - Copies selected text to the clipboard automatically. Like Linux or mIRC.
AutoForm - A tool for automatic form filling.
Disable Targets For Downloads - Prevents download links opening a blank window.
Paste and Go - Lets you paste a URL from the clipboard and directly load it.
Popup ALT Attribute - Popups alternate text of images or others like in Netscape, and show long text on multiple lines.
Show Failed URL - Displayed failed URLs in the Location Bar when XUL error pages are enabled.
Tab X - Adds a close button to each of the browser tabs.

Also automan, I use PowerMenu which adds a minimize-to-tray option to all programs.

Is there any way you can make the autoform bar smaller or just keep the load form button up there but get rid of the rest of the buttons?

I don't use the autoform toolbar at all, I set it to autoload form data and then when I want to save a form I do it from Tools | Autoform. You can right-click any toolbar and uncheck 'Autoform toolbar' to hide it, or select 'Customize' and drag the buttons where you want them.

Peace,

-Y

Thanks!

The autoform bar is a bit large and gaudy.

i just found an extension called "Remove It Permanently". so far so good. it has removed the google ads at the bottom of the page and the banners at the top of every page. after testing on this website, i'm going to see how it will handle websites with tons of ads.

adblock does that quite well with a good filter.

here's the one I recommend (it'll block 95% of adverts):

Quote:

[Adblock]
/\D\d{2,3}x\d{2,3}\D/
googlesyndication
us.yimg.com/a/
/\/buy_assets\//
/[\W\d_](top|bottom|left|right|)?banner(s|id=|\d|_)[\W\d]/
/[\W\d](double|fast)click[\W\d]/
/[\W\d]click(stream|thrutraffic|thru|xchange)[\W\d]/
/[\W\d]value(stream|xchange|click)[\W\d]/
/[\W\d]dime(xchange|click)[\W\d]/
/[\W\d](onlineads?|ad(banner|click|-?flow|frame|ima?g(es?)?|_id|js|log|serv(er|e)?|stream|_string|s|trix|type|vertisements?|v|vert|xchange)?)[\W\d]/
/(hot|spy)log/
/[\W_](b(an|nr)s?|jump|redir(ect|s)?|stat)[\W_]/
/\W(cy|r)?c(ou)?nt(er|ed)?\W/
/p(artner|ing\.cgi|romotion)/
reklama
/sp(onsor|ymagic)/
/top(100|cto)/

copy/paste into a .txt file and import into adblock. If you see something that slips thru the cracks, just right click and "adblock image"
