Firefox Extensions: Which do you use?
    #6334167 - 12/04/06 07:56 PM (18 years, 3 days ago)

My other web browser thread has led me to create this one.

I hope by sharing what exentions we use, some of us may find some we like but did not previously have.

What I currently have installed are:

FireFTP 0.94.6 by Mime Cuvalo

FireFTP is a free, secure, cross-platform FTP client for Mozilla Firefox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP servers.

Along with transferring your files quickly and efficiently, FireFTP also includes more advanced features such as: directory comparison, syncing directories while navigating, SSL encryption, file hashing, and much more!

DownThemAll! 0.9.9.7 by Federico Parodi and Stefano Verna

The first and only download manager/accelerator built inside Firefox!

DownThemAll is all you can desire from a download manager: it features an advanced accelerator that increases speed up to 400% and it allows you to pause and resume downloads at any time!

DownThemAll is fast, reliable and easy-to-use! It lets you download all the links or images contained in a webpage and much more: you can refine your downloads by fully customizable criteria to get only what you really want!

DownThemAll is absolutely freeware and open-source. No Adware, no Spyware.

For more informations,
http://www.downthemall.net/howto/features/

SwitchProxy Tool 1.4.1 by Jeremy Gillick

SwitchProxy lets you manage and switch between multiple proxy configurations
quickly and easily. You can also use it as an anonymizer to protect your
computer from prying eyes. NOTE: In Firefox you can use the toolbar
element to save space

Torbutton by Scott Squires

Torbutton provides a button to easily enable or disable the browser's use of Tor. For more information, visit the Torbutton homepage: http://freehaven.net/~squires/torbutton

Live HTTP Headers 0.13.1 by Daniel Savard, Nikolas Coukouma

View HTTP headers of a page and while browsing.

FoxyTunes by Alex Sirota
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/219/
Lets me controll XMMS (Winamp, and a bunch of other media players) from firefox and see what song is playing.

Torbutton by Scott Squires
http://freehaven.net/~squires/torbutton
Hooray for privacy.

StumbleUpon by Geoff Smith
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/138/
A cool tool to use when bored.
StumbleUpon lets you "channelsurf" the best-reviewed sites on the web. It is a collaborative surfing tool for browsing, reviewing and sharing great sites with like-minded people. This helps you find interesting webpages you wouldn't think to search for.

Thats about it. I have faster-fox also, but is didn't do anything about:config can't do.

LiveHeaders seems pretty nifty. I may have to check it out

I use:

Adblock Plus
Auto Copy
Bookmarks Synchronizer
DOM Inspector
dragdropupload
ErrorZilla
Html Validator
IE Tab
Paste and Go 2
StumbleUpon
Web Developer

I also use this userChrome.css to hide disabled buttons:

Code:
#back-button[disabled="true"] {display:none;}
#forward-button[disabled="true"] {display:none;}
#reload-button[disabled="true"] {display:none;}
#stop-button[disabled="true"] {display:none;}

 extensions!

I should check some of these out.

I like the idea of an FTP client. For whatever reason, I have been having trouble finding an FTP client that works under x64.

These are the ones that I use that I don't think have been mentioned so far. I can't be bothered finding links for each, I'm sure you can find them. If not, pm me, I'll send you a link.

FoxyTunes - media player control from firefox

ChatZilla - intergrated IRC client that uses customisable CSS for display

Mouse Gestures - control firefox functions using customisable mouse gestures

User Agent Switcher - switch user agent of browser to any of a customisable list very easily. Very good for pretending to be a google bot!

IE tab - opens internet explorer intergrated into a firefox tab.

Screen grab! - allows you to take a screen capture of an entire webpage (not just what is on screen, confusingly) and safe it as a lossless png.

FoxyProxy - customise persistant proxy options for websites.

Fission - displays the progress bar in the address bar (Safari style).

greasemonkey, procon latte, nuke anything enhanced.

If it wasn't for the extensions I would junk this infuriating browser. The lack of effort they put into programming and streamlining the browser is just shameful (besides the fact it's a security hazard).

Adblock Plus
Batch Download
Cooliris Previews
Fasterfox
Flashgot
Minimize to Tray
refspoof
Unplug
Video Download

I have multiple video download type extensions because some work on some sites and others work on different sites.

*EDIT* Does anyone know of an extension that will work on redtube DOT com?

Try Replay Media Catcher. It's not a browser extension. It's an application, but it'll grab most sites' videos. Replay Converter will change into .wmv or whatever format you like best.

Both applications are all over the trackers.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

It does work, but it is very slow. The bandwidth is all donated, so there's no gaurentee of good speeds.

It helps a lot if you turn off images and javascript while using tor. Sometimes I disable CSS as well, but that's going a little OTT.
