that makes very little sense since chrome is a lightweight browser designed for performance.

Chrome consumes less memory that firefox for a start.

Chrome feels faster on my netbook with ubuntu netbook remix.

Don't get me wrong, I love Chrome...

But the only problem I have, is when opening a new tab you get your top 8 sites visited...


This is all well and good, but when one of them is YouPorn, and it's not me that opened the tab, it's not so good.

Anyone know how to change that?  :grin:

Hover over the page, then click the cross in the right-top corner which says 'don't show this page' when you hover over it :wink:

I haven't tried it, but I suppose if you go to Options and in Startup, you select 'Open the following pages' and then add an entry for 'about:blank', you might have what you want.

Nah, that's for the first startup rather than each new tab.

From a little research, it turns out there WAS an extension to do this, but a security update a while ago rendered it useless, and apparently unresolvable.

If you will notice, your source reports single tab references for memory testing.  Open 10 different tabs in FF and report your memory usage.  Compare tests with Google Chrome after opening 10 different tabs and you'll find that it will take more memory than FF. 

Also, be aware that chrome has a lot of flaws and is prone to security risks.

just put chromium (the open source implementation of chrome) on my archlinux box, using it now, going to check it out for a while and see how i like it, seems much much snappier so far, but its probably due to precacheing whatever i'm hovering over...

Ive never been able to load pdf's on chrome.  Theres probably a way to do it, honestly Ive just been too lazy to look.  Anyone use Linux and have the same problem?

Chrome would definitely be superior if it had the adblocker firefox did, plus the capability to do all the cool addons that you can put in firefox. 

i use stumbleupon and autopager regularly and don't want to go without them.

they need to give me more incentive to switch over, other than just speed.
