I agree entirely with this quote. That is an extremely ghetto method of drying, it is mainly used for drying supreme quantities of picked shrooms.

Your setup sounds good, no stops pulled out for sure. Those lights might dry out the chamber pretty quick and with cakes you need the highest humidity you can get. Those holes are and pumps are sufficient for air exchange, and perlite can keep the humidity you need. Work on the light issue and you should be great.

sounds good the only thing i can think of is 1. did you put polyfill of something else over those air exchange holes 2. do you have the air hose under the perlite with an airstone? could get the rh to low if you don't

Yeah, i would say polyfill = overkill. Coffee filters will work.Yyou should look into casings though, i don't understand why anyone still does cakes.
