They don't have polyfil at home depot. Goto a craft store like Micheals or the craft section of Meijers or Walmart.

So my question is, is polyester filter floss just your everyday normal floss?

What like dental floss? No, not even close.

Ask them for batting (sp?) thats what polyfil is pretty much. Its the stuff that you use to stuff into quilts or stuff like that.

It?s also used as filter material for aquariums, so pet shops have it.

The last jars I did, I used that drywall tape material stuff that's you put over cracks then slop putty over.. It's not sticky or anything, but it's fiberous so I just bunched it up and pressed it into the holes. Worked fine. It was a quick fix cause I was too lazy to go down to the store.

Anno refers to tyvek as foil, but I haven't really found it in that form. Anything made with Tyvek can be cut and used as a filter. I.E. priority envelopes from USPS, fed ex tyvek envelopes (says made with tyvek on back), there are cheap suits made with it for painting, etc...

Foil in meaning of a thin material.
Tyvek is simply a thin sheet of a porous, membranous, soft but sturdy material.
