John Frusciante - Shadows Collide With People
    #4159600 - 05/10/05 11:24 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

This is probably my favorite of all his albums... of which I own most. In case you don't know Frusciante, he's the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and his solo work is amazing. Lately he's been working with Josh Klinghoffer, drummer for Bicycle Thief I think, and Omar Rodriguez, the guitarist for The Mars Volta.

To get a feel for his grooves, check out the song "Carvel", "Look On", "The Sides", "The World's Edge", "Cut-Out", and "Going Inside"... to name a few. These songs are some of my favorites from his various albums.

Any fans out there?  :mushroom2:

i was a bit skeptical at first but then gambled and bought "the will to death." i was won over and even favor his solo work than with his other band. Josh Klinghoffer is an amazing drummer. i hear John Frusciante is releasing a new album every month. even colaborated with a member of fugazi. Recommended.

I've only heard the song, "Murderers" which is incredible. I haven't heard anything else though, is all of it instrumental?

Oh my motherfucking God! This is my all time favorite artist. I can't belive someone beside myself made a thread concerning Frusciante. I'm actually listening to the DC EP as I type this. Shadows Collide is absolutley his most accesable album. But To record only water for ten days is his deepest and Niadra lades and usually just a T-shirt is his best. He Is hands down THE SHIT! This mans music is so deep and significant a person like myself can never begin to describe it. If you have soulseek take some ot his live stuff from me. I have a fuck load of it. It's all incredible. I have every single one of his albums and ep's. The song "In Relief" is the epitomy of what he has done. It's musical spirit pictured in gorgosity. It is the epitomy of beauty. This man knows music. Pleas check out his work, it is everything I aspire to be as a musician. His music is deeper than anything I have ever herd. and I listen to ALOT of music. Mr. Frusciante knows where it's at. Listen, please. It's good.

Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-shirt is absolutely insane. :crazy2:

Has anyone heard his newest album, "Curtains"? I heard it's mostly acoustic... it's the only one that I don't own, besides "Smile From The Streets You Hold".

<--I'll be the first to admit I'm obsessed with the music this man makes.

Smile from the streets you hold is a must own. The title track is one of his most beautifull pieces of music. As a whole it's way more insane than niadra lades and it does not have the beautifull instrumentals, but there are some tracks here and there that blow your friggin' mind. If you can find any live renditions of the title track especially. All those songs from the fisrt couple albums he has made into incredible live tracks.

Curtains is the most mellow and laid back album he has maid. It is all acoustic, no other instruments, just him and the guitar. It's really nice. It's starts off with "the past recededs" which is one of the strongest songs he's laid down in this last six disc series, and flows from there. It has some really slow moments, it takes a certain mood to listen to it all the way through, but it's pretty good. It shows really well how the man is progressing as a musician. Personally, the fact that someone as a singer can go from where he was on smile from the streets you hold to where is now on curtains is the defacto source of my inspiration to sing myself. If that transfomation can be made, then I have hope.

Have you heard the Ataxia album?
