The guitarist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers? Ya, he's cool.

Check out his solo works. They are in a different dimension than RHCP...

George Stombolopolous (sp?) said that he performs live as if God put the guitar right into his hands, or something like that. That's quite an endorsement.

I only know the guy from the Chili Peppers, and I'm not big into them at all, but I think he's wonderful. I'd like to check out more of his stuff.

the solo works are what make's his genius apparent, not the chillie peppers stuff, although on the newest rhcp cd his influence is more apperent and i think it's theire best record in a lot of way's because of it.

his solo cd's are some of the best music i have ever heard.

Yeah check out songs like "Going Inside", "Ramparts", and "Murderers" for a taste of what it's like.

I just purchased "To Record Only Water For Ten Days"... it crosses over the boundary between insanity and genius back and forth several times...

I will also be getting an original copy of the album "Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a T-Shirt" soon, which is extremely rare it seems. (Used copies are going for hundreds of dollars on the net)

I highly recommend anything you can get by this man.

That's pretty funny if it's true, a friend of mine found it new at a best buy for like, 15 bucks, and let me burn a copy of it. I also have "smile from the streets you hold" which imho is inferior to the other two works, but still has that borderline genius/insanity thing going on and it is incredible if you can get yourself to listen to it all. I guess his first two solo records were made just so he could get money for smack while he was out of the chillie peppers, and they sound very much like that. I love all his cd's, particularly "Niandra LaDes" but if you're not completley awe strucken by what the guy can do (it seems he literaly makes his soul audible, like he is chaneling his spirit through his guitar, it's crazy) you might have a tough time listening to his first two albums.
