another humidity question

by the way, I just want to say how great it is to be growing the first time, and have no contams, everything going smoothly. I also want to thank all of you for helping, giving your advice to me, I owe a big fat hug to the Shroomery!

ok, here's me setup:

Large rubbermaid bin filled with 1.5-2 inches of perlite, 1/4 an inch of water. Put fastest colonized cake in yesterday night. Fanning the chamber twice a day.

So anyways, I got a cheapo humidity gauge at a pet store. It's not very accurate, but it reads 85% humidity at the moment. Given that isn't very accurate, the terrarium could be 10% either which way, right? Is it more likely to read a higher or lower humidity, or just whatever and it all depends? Any suggestions on increasing this percentage would be great.

A humidity gauge isnt really nessesary, As long as you have condensation on the walls of your growing chamber you should be fine.:). But to address your question, adding damp perlite will increase it alot. :smile:

Perlite. If you get more ambitious later on, you can try a cool mist humidifier setup.
