i read in one of the first hand experiences that a guy took xanax before he tripped and he said it took away the "pre-trip jitters". my friend has a shitload of valium and we were wondering if this would do the trick. just taking one a piece seems like it would be cool. if it doesn't take away the jitters what will it do? i've tripped before and i've ejoyed every experience. i just hate the way i feel at the beginning. it kind of makes me sick. (I CAN'T WAIT 'TIL FRIDAY!!!!!!!!)

I like to think of Valium as very similar to Dolby Noise Reduction. It's great becuase it gets rid of the annoying static, but always ends up cutting off the top 1% of the sound making it a little less enjoyable.
The jitters are gone, but you may not trip as hard with a less instense peak.
I Wish I had loads of valium, it's great to help you sleep after you comedown

Vavium is great for after a trip. for me it messes with my memory so i don't like to take it before.
I have a hard enough time remembering things as it is.

hey man, i think there's nothing wrong with the jitters...
i get nervous when i smell the tea when its ready, in front of me, flashes of other trips are seen and i feel great respect for that thing that could be confused with fear or something... but we have to drink it, no matter how scary it can seem at the time. i think it's part of taking shrooms...
i hate witty sigs / if anything i say has something in common with reality, this is a merely a coincidence.

Hmm...you may be talking about me. Was this the level 5 experience....1000 souls, 1000 years?
anyway, i dont know what mg those valium are, but i wouldnt take more than 2.5-5 mg if i were you, to start out with. You will find that benzo's take away the mindfuck part of psychedelics, but leave the disorientation and visuals. Basically, it turns them into a TV show type of thing.
It will definitely work, and should last the whole time that you are tripping.... I liked the xanax because it comes on quickly, and doesnt last TOO long (4-6 hours, i think valium will be closer to 10, and klonopin can sometimes last for a day or more)...
anyway, just thought i'd chime in here.....
another option, if you dont want the stuff to last for the whole time ( i would say you should try this at least one time, just to see what it's like...it can be really nice and relaxing), try taking some ghb or alcohol when you take the mushrooms....they wont last for the whole trip, but will definitely help get rid of some of the initial anxiety.... just another idea though.....

O.K....now I have a HUGE question.
UrQuattro, you talked about XanaX and Klonopin(clonazepam).So, can you or ANYONE answer me this:
I take both clonazepam and Paxil along with Neurontin. I also take XanaX when I need it and Lorazepam when needed. Would any of my regular meds {Clon/Pax/Neur.} have any negative interactions with shrooms?

First of all, don't use GHB or alcohol with shrooms. These will only hinder the experience. Paxil, because of its effects on serotonin, will seriously hinder any LSD, MDMA or psilocybine trip. This is especially true if you have been taking it a long time, because you will have a high level of paroxetine in your blood stream. Any benzodiazepines should be okay, but your memory will be fucked. Also keep in mind that benzos lack antidepressant actions. They may calm you, but they won't bring you out of a dark state of mind. Finally, the intensity of the trip may be less overall with benzos, because I know patients anesthetized with Ketamine are given benzos to limit hallucinations. It really all depends when your planning on taking the benzos. As you're coming down you can eat as many as you want to rest.

O.K....I have been taking all 3 of my main meds for quite a while. Should I stop for a period of time before I trip...or just plan on eating more than normal amounts to trip equally?

Well, I don't know what Neurontin is- explain. Like I said, benzos, unless taken at the same time or just before won't affect the trip. What I mean is, you have to be acutely affected by them in order for them to affect the trip. The day before, or even earlier in the day are fine. Different benzos last different amounts of time, so be careful. Some last over a day.
As far as Paxil is concerned, it can completely terminate a trip, so that any dose, no matter how large won't have any effect. This is true. The answer, as you suggested, is in quitting Paxil for a while. A week is enough to get some effect back, but sadly it takes about a month to completely rid yourself of it. Dosage is a huge factor, too. 10mg taken daily may not affect the trip at all. Also, if you are depressed, you should be aware of the dangers of halting your prescribed anti-depressants. You were prescribed them for a reason.

Neurontin is a mood stabilizer that goes hand in hand with the Paxil for my Bi-polar disorder. It's also called gabapentin and some people take it to treat seizure disorders. It's used for all forms of depression, anxiety, etc. , issues. But, for instance, I have to slowly taper off instead of just stopping. I don't (and never have had) seizures. But it can cause them if you go cold turkey(so to speak)
I want to stop taking everything anyway and have for a while...just don't want any probs.But I also don't want the chemicals in my body.

I've never heard of Neurontin, and that's interesting, because I have depression and know a thing or two about antidepressants. Do more research before trying a potentially-dangerous experiment.
You'll want to gradually taper the Paxil, too. I was prescribed 60mg daily of Paxil, and it didn't help my mood at all, it just made me indifferent. I quit it cold turkey. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS! For a month afterward, I got terrible "head rushes" that almost made me faint. I have yet to find a (legal) antidepressant that works, except maybe for opiates.

I know...I've been on em all too....I went thru a particularly tough time when they did an aggresive therapy that meant 9 different mood stabilizers in 9 weeks!!!! I felt the best on Lithium, but Dr. didn't think it was effective enough. So he settled on the Neurontin.
I also came back to Paxil at only 20 mg a day.Doesn't really make a difference to me, but I was "told" during a meditation to stop the chemicals going into my body.That's when I started researching hallucinogens as a spiritual connection. I have fount 3 strains in particular that fit my profile. I have been told that 1 of them is really a shitty strain.I don't care. They include the Cambodians(originally picked at the shrine built for Vishnu at Angkor Wat),Mazapatecs, and Orissa. These are all the important ones for me. Like I said, I've been told the Cambos really suck as far as potency. But I think there is a reason for that. I have a theory anywaay. ;)

Ive used all the drugs that your talking about. SSRI's benzo's and nerontin taken at the same time is verry trendy. A lot of shrinks are tring this type of chemical treatment. Before taking any drug please talk to your doctor. Im almost certain they would not approve. Do you want to get your life in order or stay high on drugs. Life is not ment to be easy. I haven't for about 11 years~~well...o.k... a little bud once in a great while! But I want to grow my own shrooms and conduct an experiment based on info I received during meditation.So he can go fuck himself!!Besides...i figure shrooms grow naturally out in nature, so it can't be all that BAD!!

i agree with poto... i think it is lame to take perscription drugs that aren't perscribed to you. Valium and nuerontin make you zombie like most mood stablilizers do... if you need it for bipolar you need it but otherwise its just a brain anestetic I don't suggest taking it either...
people always want more and don't realize the turbulence is beautiful..
