Mushroom kits
    #4094703 -

hello all,

I'm looking for information/links to some mushroom kits for sale. Have bought several in the past, but have always had problems keeping constant temperatures, so a temp/humidity monitor would be great to basically set and monitor. Always looking for new ideas and suggestions, and any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much

Pf cakes & a TIT or PMP will do you better than most kits.

Yep, I agree with Agar, try the PF Tek, and build a TiT (Tub in Tub).

wow, thanks so much for the replies. The PF tek method sounds like the right method for me. I always thought kits were the way to go, but seeing them fail several times, I am very interested to try a new method. After reading your replies I was able to find much information on the PF method, but what about the TIT? Does this tub in tub method basically relace the need for a glass terrarium? Thanks once again, all of your help is most appreciated.

I agree. When I first got interested in growing... I checked all over the place for kits. Shit.. a kit at my local glass shop costs 118$!!!! What crap!!!! What I say... is use that cash to create your own growing supplies. 100$ takes you a long way in what you need to grow.

In EXAMPLE:

16$- Spore Syringe (anywhere.. spores direct is cheap .. AND you get a free syringe w/ every order!)
10$- 12, 1/2 pint canning jars
5$- 3lbs or so of brown rice flour
5$- Vermiculite
5$- Perlite
20$- In tank fish tank heater
20$- for all the rubbermade bins you're gonna need
10$- humidity temp gauge.
3$- Some aluminum foil
10$ or so for misc supplies along the way
============================
100$ give or take for the most simple setup ever. With all this equiptment you can grow again.. and again.. and again without ever having to worry about ordering "another kit". It's much more exciting when you do it yourself.

The furthest I'd do in having my own 'kit' is ordering some prepared PF jars from Mike'OLogical and shootin' em up.

A good start for research is the FAQ's (The FAQ button on the top of this page)... they provide great information and many of the TEKs (growing tecniques) have pictures to go along with an explanation on how it works!

Good luck and welcome to the Shroomery!!!

The Tub In Tub is a sort of incubator. This meathod holds water in the outer rubbermade with an in tank heater and preferably a small water pump to keep water circulating, and the inner tub is where you set your PF or grain jars. You want your temps to be a wee over 80 degrees.

I think invitro is a great starting point. It is pretty foolproof so beginners won't be put off by failures or the expense, time, effort of getting all the equipment together and set-up. You get to see the whole cycle of the process. Some may have never even done shrooms before, if they go invitro they can make some cheaply.

If they like them they can upgrade to a pc and grains and casing later and grow some beauties.
