From what I hear, that kit is a pain in the ass. Sporechicks have a much better kit, but I guess that won;t help you now.

You'll need to build a glovebox to do this kit effectively. do a search on them here

i used it years ago and failed. not a good kit for beginers unless they have realy clean techniques.. maybe use the oven tek or a glove box for the agar work, but for the same or even less money you could get 20 petris and agar from fungi.com and a box of quart jars......and go from there. there are plenty of teks out there to get you going and probibly even end up with a bigger yeild.

I bought this kit back in 96. I paid $70 for it and you know what? It wasn't worth it one bit. The techniques these days are far superior to those used in Homestead's mushroom kit. The inoculating loop and agar is not a good idea for us beginners. You should really do some research here on shroomery.org and find alternative methods of producing high yield mushrooms. The 1/2 pint PF Tek method is a good way to start and very economical as well. Good Luck and be sure to keep us updated on your status. Peace
