Preparation of Casing Mix(question)

Well, I had my 50/50+ mix sterilizing fine in my pressure cooker until the damn thing exploded (bad safety valve), well thats what I get for using my grandmothers 25 year old pressure cooker. Well anyway to finish up the job I threw the whole load into a pillow case and boiled the hell out of it for an hour / hour and a half. I was'nt sure what to do afterward so i just squeezed out some of the excess water now I have it cooling in another pot. I guess my question is did I do this right? I'm gonna be birthing some cakes in about a week and don't want any suprises. Also is there anything else I should know / do? This is my first time ever trying to case so any help would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks.

You should be alright as long as you squeezed out the extra water. Let it cool completely before using it, and don't let the casing sit in that pillow case for a minute longer than it needs to, as it's more open to contaminants. Next time use jars and boil them if you don't have a pressure cooker.

Do I need to add more lime? I'm assuming some of it must have boiled out, right?

WOAH there horsey! DO NOT FUCK WITH YOUR PRESSURE COOKER, IT WILL FUCK YOU BACK AND MAY EVEN KILL YOU! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
even really old pressure cookers were made by manufactures that are still in business or for which parts are still available. check your mom-and-pop type ace hardware stores, they may even have the safety valve in stock. it is not at all uncommon for old ones to go shooting out of the lid. that doesn't mean that the cooker is junk.

i found s replacement but its 10$ american
too much cash
I think I will be ok with this setup though
the foil can be like a safety valve.. it will blow before the whole thing does for sure..
