Storing Sterilized Casing Mix

I woke up to cobweb mold this morning, and I'm looking for the culprit. I've been keeping pre-moistened, pre-sterilized casing (Jiffy Max) in the fridge, so I can patch case as needed before work in the morning and as soon as I get home in the evenings. I don't have time to cook it up twice a day, so I thought this would be okay. Is there anything wrong with this? Anybody have a better way? Could this be the problem?
I probably just wasn't sterile enough and caused the crap myself, but it doesn't hurt to double check.

Thanks for the bump, I know you'll feel the pain when I tell you it's my Pes Hawaiian casing that gave me such a sweet little first flush. My first casing success, my first spawn to straw, and possibly my most painful failure to date (unless I can fight the crap off). I sprayed it with h202/h20 this a.m., checked it at lunch and it looks better, but WET. And on very close inspection, I saw that it was beginning to pin again, damnit!! Is it possible to treat/fight cobweb while the casing is pinning?

weep, weep!!
thats a tough one. i know that if you do try to treat, like spraying with h202 you will cause abhorts. i wish like hell i could you, girl. i feel your pain. i just harvested my second flush from one casing last night (the other had spores everywhere so i gave it a new casing layer)
have you asked in the contamination forum yet?

I do it all the time and have no problems. Make sure that your casing is properly sterilized before putting it away.

I'm doing the 10 minutes on high microwave routine, letting cool to room temp (in the microwave) before using, and covering well before putting into fridge.
Has anyone had success with scraping the cobwebby casing off and re-casing? Of course, in this situation, that would mean scraping up the few pins I spotted earlier, too.
This is a good-size casing - I'd really like to save it, if possible.

There's no chance against cobweb mold unless you eradicate every single little strand of mycelium from the substrate/casing. Even if you suceed, cobweb mold can produce spores a day after germinating.

That sucks. I'm screwed. Good thing I just spotted pins in my big mack daddy casing of Mazatapecs!! I'm going to hold on to the Pes until tomorrow though, and see how it looks. I can't toss it until I'm totally convinced.
It's quarantined, so I might as well.....

in response to your initial question......
since my friend no longer uses his half pint jars with the new methods he is using now, he decided it would be a good use of them to fill them up with casing mix, pc them and store them. this way you can just open up a sterile jar and use it, what you dont use put it in a bucket....re-sterilize your left overs......and the cycle continues.

Great idea. I have extra jars these days too, so I'm going to cook some up tonight. That will eliminate one possible problem. I have 2 casings coming up behind the pes and they'll be in the same container, same conditions. Hope I can avoid the nasty cobweb crap in those.
The Pes will be dumped when I get home from work - it's a lost cause.
