Since I am waitng for some syringes to arrive I will probably be asking a lot of questions the next few weeks to work out kinks and knots in my so-far failed procedure. 1. What is the best way (IYHO) to mix the substrate. Should I put the vermiculite in first, then the brown rice flour and then add the water and stir or rather stir and then add water and then stire some more (get it?). Should I mix with a fork or spoon? Should I mix each jars substrate and then load or mix six at onces, or 4 at once, what do you find works best? What is the best formulate? 1/2 verm, 1/4 water and brf per 1/2 pint jar? 2) Any good information for sterile incubation setups? 3) How many of you shate good success with steaming for 1 hour?

I've found this setup for a incubator and think I can build it for under $15.
Question on this: Will the jar near the container get hotter than the other jars? Will drying occur? For a small 12 jars setup and at the most 24 jars a smaller syrafoam cooler work?

i put the vermiculite in then the flour and mix that up real good first..then slowly add the water and mix..doesnt matter what you mix it with just as long as you mix it up good enough to where there is consistant water and flour through out the verm.i always mix up enough for 3 jars at a time..its perfect for me because my mixing bowl will be too full with anymore and i have spillage when mixing.also my pressure cooker only holds 3..to make three jars i use 2 cups of vermiculite 3/4 cup flour and 3/4 cup water..my first grow i tried steaming..i did 8 jars and 2 of them contamed real bad..now that i got a pressure cooker i hardly ever get contams except a little spot of green mold here and there wich is easily cut away..im sure that the jar nearest to the heater will probably be a few degrees hotter but not anything to worry about..little or no drying should occur because you are not using dry heat..meaning you are using a water based heater..i dont know what size cooler you should use..hope that helped though..peace
some say the end is near some say we'll see armagedon soon..certainly hope we will..i sure could use a vacation from this stupid shit.

I mix up enough substrate for 12 jars at a time. First I mix 6 cups of vermiculite with 3 cups of BRF. once that is mixed thoroughly I slowly stir in 3 super of water, mixing between each pour. In reality this will be enough for 14 or 15 jars though. darkfly
