A question about a terrarium

Hey, I'm going to be growing soon, and I had a question about a suitable terrarium, so my friend suggested asking here.. I have a fairly large aquarium that I'd like to use, but it has a crack in the side. It's not too bad, but it's obviously no good for fish anymore. I was just wondering if the crack would cause any problems, or if it would be fine to use.

It would most likely be fine to use if you can seal the crack with something so no humidity or anything can escape. I prefer to use opaque containers for my terrarium and just have the light source entering from the top. I used to use a 55 gallon aquarium but found rubbermaid bins to be way better. darkfly -- too much trippin and my soul is worn thinEdited by darkfly on 10/03/01 08:43 PM.

darkfly, with the big rubbermaid bins, what do you use for a top. And you're talking about the big plastic storage bins, right? do you cut out the middle of the top that comes on the bin and then cut a hole in the top and put saran/plexiglass or something else in the cut hole, or do you use an entirely different top. i'm planning on using perlite for humidification, if that makes a difference for the top... thanks!

My friend has a 21 gallon bin from K-mart. He uses the same top it came with, he cut out 2 small windows in the top and superglued squares of saran wrap or plexiglass over these windows and hung a florescent above.
darkfly -- If this is sight, I would rather be blind.
