Vermiculite age
    #407426 - 09/28/01 10:29 AM (23 years, 4 months ago)

I have some old vermiculite sitting in my basement that hasn't really been touched in a couple years... should I go out and buy a whole new bag (which I never come close to using the whole thing) or is this old vermiculite ok? I guess I really dont know what vermiculite is or if it is suseptible to aging.

Any ideas (or certainty?)

Shawn

Verm doesn't go bad. But from sitting in your basement, you can be sure it's full of mold spores, etceteras.

Hmm... so contamination risks would be higher? I don't use a pressure cooker for serilization of the jars (just boil them)... but isn't the bag full of crazy stuff (compeditors) even when its new?

I suppose its not really a big deal, I just hate to waste anything. I'll go buy a new bag just to be safe I guess.

Thanks

Shawn

if it was sealed up properly there should be no problem but if it was exposed to the open air you can guarentee it is full of mold spores like puscle said..

some say the end is near some say we'll see armagedon soon..certainly hope we will..i sure could use a vacation from this stupid shit.
