what I don't understand is why you're doing it now, and why you need to find humor in it. Nothing else. I wouldnt care at all if he wasn't actually clinging to the last bits of his life right now.

Of course I don't treat funerals as parties.

And the reason I'm doing it now is because it's more topical now, and thus funnier.

I find the fact that there are all these people praying and moaning over what's really just the death of another old man. The catholic church is a worn out, useless, old fashioned, silly institution. It would be nice to see it going the way of the pope.

If you don't get the joke, you don't have to participate. Your moral superiority games aren't as funny as mocking the pope.

Could you please explain to me how making fun of the pope dying is a bad thing?

Now, of course it's insensitive, no shit. But why is that bad? Is anyone getting hurt by it? Is it making the pope sadder? Making his death more painful? What? What's the deal?

Well, I doubt it'll give them a deadly urinary tract infection or anything.

If anything, they'll get to hate me, and it'll boost their egos, with the comforting thought that they are morally superior to me.

I was thinking some more about this, and I don't think your statement really matches your condemnation of me.

You're acting like I've done something seriously morally wrong, but at the very worst, all I've done is offend you a little bit. I doubt I've caused you any real inconvenience, or even made you feel violated.

And from what I can tell, you're the only one that's even offended.

Is the slight distaste I've created in you for me, really enough to warrant treating me like I'm scum?
