best substrate

Ok, so I am a relative newbie and the only substrate that I've used so far is brown rice flower and vermiculite. Ususally it takes my cakes about 3 weeks to colonize (that's using the metal lids, not mm disks). I just wanted to know if there's a better substrate that I could be using other than brf and verm.

I think its dumb when people say video games effect kids negatively.
I mean, if Pac-Man effected us, we'd all hang out in dark rooms, muching pills, and listening to repetitive music.
