Let pasteurized poo/straw breathe while incubating?
    #3981992 - 03/28/05 10:56 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

I'm confused on this one...I've seen posts on  pasteurized poo/straw mixes that say to let it breathe a lot while it's colonizing.  But I've also seen pictorials where the containers are covered with foil (no holes) while being incubated.  Should poo be allowed to breathe while it's colonizing/incubating?  Thanks.

I cover my straw/dung substrates with plastic sheeting and then melt small holes in it (1 per square inch, approximately) for air exchange. Works well for me.

Is there much airflow through your incubation chamber?

None. The only fresh air it gets is when I pop the top to check progress.

Thanks. That's essentially what I'm dealing with. Just a little paranoid about contams setting in if the colonization takes too long.
