My new musical discovery

King crimson - Red

Amazing album. I have heard it a lot of years ago, but I was hearing some CDs to ease my mind form the tiring process of mixing mine, and found this...

Very recommended for people into psychedelic rock and guitar!!

Any king crimson fans out there?

Awww hell yeah! I have "In the Court of the Crimson King" and "Red", and they are both astounding.
Like the best of the Moody Blues with more hard-rocking guitar, folk, psychedelic and other miscellaneous influences.

Great stuff, it's been years since I've listened to it though.

Red is my fave KC album (from the Red era and overall).

ItCotCK has some great songs, but Red is a stronger album overall. classic stuff.

for fans of Red-era KC, check out a 90's Swedish progressive rock band named ?nglag?rd. get their 2nd album Epilog but also check out their debut Hybris if you get a chance. amazingly proficient playing and probably my favorite from the string of several great Swedish bands of that period.

I used to be hugely into prog rock/metal and plan to play some goodies at some point if I get a radio show here.

eh, fuck it, I'll just upload a track from Epilog (which I own on 180g vinyl  )for you guys..

enjoy.

Thanks ricochet!!

Any more recommendations guys?

On a side note, I just learned "Red" on the guitar, Fripp was really innovative... I'll take some of his tricks

I would recommend Porcupine Tree's album "In Absentia" for some modern prog-rock/psychedelic goodness, and Opeth's acoustic album "Deliverance" for some lovely dark-folky progressive rock.

Damnation* (Deliverance was the "heavy" album, Damnation was the mellow album) is tiresome and pretty uninspired acoustic rock that was mostly written by Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree, and if you're going to listen to PT you might as well get their best and most consistent album Stupid Dream.

I suggest (and was going to wait to suggest them or play them on the radio show but whatever) Gordian Knot. the band is comprised of Sean Malone (bass/stick/keyboards) and Sean Reinert (drums) of Cynic (one album "Focus" that is highly recommended, as it's the pinnacle of jazz/metal fusion) & Death ("Human" album on which both Sean's played) fame. Trey Gunn (guitar) of King Crimson also plays with GK on the first album so that should be incentive enough. the new album features ex-Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett and ex-Yes/King Crimson/etc. drummer Bill Bruford.:thumbup:

here's a track from the first album.
