New Forum Needed

I think we should have a microscopy(sp?) forum. We have vendors selling spore syringes for us to view under the microscope, but no where to discuss what we see under the microscope.

I still believe that Shroomery needs a general mycology science forum where microscopy would very nicely fit in between taxonomy issues, history, ecology, recent research etc. etc. Advanced Mushroom Cultivation is advanced mushroom cultivation :crazy2:

I think the name may be a bit intimidating. 

Changing the name from Advanced Mushroom Cultivation to Advanced Mycology could promote discussion of other topics.

But seriously ... What's in a name? :smirk:

I have been thinking about changing the name to its orginal name, "Experimental Station".

But, what's a name. Let's call it "The Mold Den".

Actually names and language is a very important thing. Here's an illustrative example  - a simple psychological experiment first designed by Wolfgang K?hler.

One of the shapes is called Booba and the other - Kiki. Look at the picture and decide to yourself which is which.



Over 90% of people choose Kiki for the orange angular shape and Booba for the rounded shape. It is thought that this has implications for language development, in that the naming of objects is not completely arbitrary. The rounded shape may most commonly be named Booba because the mouth makes a more rounded shape to produce that sound. Similarly a more taut, angular mouth shape is needed to make the sound Kiki. It's all about the cross-modal abstraction :wink:

I also do not have a problem with the suggested change.  It is a little more all encompassing than Advanced Mush Cult.
How about, Super Specially Advanced Mycodiciplines ?? :grin:
