The animation, ?Hedgehog in the Fog?, tells the story of an inquisitive hedgehog passing through a wood to visit his friend the bear cub to count the stars. It has won numerous awards for it?s style and originality after it?s release by Yuri Bonsovich Norstein (1941 - to date) and his small crew at the Soyuzmultfilm studios in Moscow in 1975. ?Hedgehog in the Fog? is the fifth of Norstein?s six completed works. All have a deceptive simplicity, a faux naivet? that begs a deeper understanding of their origins and implications.

very interesting. it probably would have been too dark for many as children. however, it left much to the imagination, which I think is important in the development of a person especially children. I took certain things from it now and can relate it to events in my past to a certain degree. thanks for sharing. I have some older Chinese cartoons that are slightly similar and very poetic.

I realize that in retrospect. however, I tend to associate non-sexual/non-(dark)comedic cartoons with children. not always but yeah. I just don't see many adults or children alike being into that cartoon. that's not a bad thing at all, but I was just saying if that had been a part of my childhood I'd probably be a lot more fucked up than I am now. I don't think it has enough whatever to make it stand out in my mind currently, though. semi-thought provoking but not mind blowing. :shrug:

Well, I guess the cartoons vary a lot in different parts of the world and in different times. The things children grow up with :smirk: From Disney's Pocahontas or Little Mermaid to Japanese anime to Hedgehog in the fog. More fucked up? More than what? :wink:
