I think I'm addicted to my computer. Any suggestions?

go out, and stay away from them
the withdrawal could be nasty though, be careful.. you may want to taper off. i don't know if you'll make it.. once it has you in it's hands, it's tough to escape

Yeah, I hear the withdrawal's a bitch. Oh well, I suppose now's a better time than any. Although I seriously did experience withdrawal. It broke down the other day, and just got it back from the shop today, but when it broke, my mood went from good to angry in about .5 seconds...not the normal "I want to throw my computer out the window" computer frustration, but actual anger....until I got to another computer that is

*kisses computer* *wipes grime off lips*
I use this computer almost every day, but I would not hesitate to smash it into a million tiny pieces. The number of joys I get from my computer are easily matched by the number of woes.
(I'm sorry baby, I was only kidding about the smash part!)

mmm, when i realized i was wasting time on forums and the internet looking to waste my time, i turned this shit off and went for walks, sat on the couch listening to music, drawing, writing, drinking tea, studying, excercising (yes, i definitely suggest excercise. it's hard at first, but once you do it for a couple days, it becomes a lot easier. we call it breaking the laziness barrier.)
i come back to post (for the first time in a long while), read stuff (keep your forums diverse, so as not to obsess). if you want to get away from the computer, get away from the computer. even if you're going to sit on a couch and "waste time," it's a different kinda time. you'll be alone with your thoughts, instead of distracting yourself with post after post after post.

Man, just go with it.. computers can be a good thing, even if you are addicted to them. sherm is right.. You can make plenty of money and make a living using computer skills which you can pretty much teach yourself by spending enough time on it.

and let your mind, body, and spirit deteroriate? wooha!
im not saying using and knowing computers isn't useful. but you don't need to spend your whole day on them to benefit from them. after a certain point, it serves more as a distraction

Ahhh I'm addicted to computers too man. Sometimes I will just stare about my desktop for long periods of time thinking of what I should do next on my little processing unit when I know I should be outside killing myself on the skateboard

Right, I try to balance my hobbies. In the summer time, there is so much that I like to do outside that I end up spending most of my time away from the computer. I like to go for long hikes and explore new places, enjoying the nice weather. In the winter time here there is absolutely nothing that you can do outside really unless you like freezing your ass off, so I end up spending much more time on the computer.

I'm addicted to my computer when i'm at home.
If i'm out i never think about it (unless i'm expecting an interesting or useful email, PM, reply to a post, etc...)
However when i'm at home it's like a calling. Sometimes it gets ridiculous. My biggest problem about it is that i end up never sleeping enough on weekdays because i have to wake up early in the morning for school.
Even though i promise to myself i'll be in bed by midnight i always end up staying up till like 3 or 4am and sleeping only 4 or 5h. Even not having had enough sleep i'll be in the computer till late again next day. It's ridiculous, tottaly like a stim - i may be nodding off b/c of lack of sleep but once i get on the computer all the sleepiness goes away.
I've been trying to not even turn the damned thing on after dinner and been sleeping more these last days which is cool.
The computer is good to keep me entertained and informed on those boring afternoons but at night it harms my sleep patterns and diminishes my productivity at school
