    #3863814 - 03/03/05 05:08 PM (19 years, 29 days ago)

not sure if these are tru blue psilocybin shrooms or not, witch is why im going to wait for you guys to tell me or not before i eat the caps... but, i found them this afternoon (late) , in a huge abandoned low swampy cow pasture, growing out of some cow shit. and i know thats where they grow, so I picked them. a little cluster of about 5 or 6. the stems are small, so i took the cap off 3 of them. im not sure if these are them so id appreciate it if someone told me thanks,
and if they are im gonna go look for some more tommorow, in the daylight. (been having some good rain)

No
You need to make a spore print and provide a better description if you expect a proper ID from these guys. The more posts I read like this, the more respect I have for Gumby,DH,and Shroomydan.

hmmmm.. read the FAQ and the requirements for posting ID requests. When looking for psilocybes, go out looking for a specific, its much easier and than going out, picking mushrooms, IDing them and then going back out. Go out looking for a specific mushroom. In your case you should research info on Psilocybe cubensis.

It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.

A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable.

Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:

a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on)
b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)
c. Measurements of cap and stem.
d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)
e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)
f. Spore print color (very important!)
g. Color that the mushroom bruises
h. Scent of mushroom

take a sporeprint.

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk ...four times already this year and I used to be over by the window and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and its not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire.

1. Do you think you can take a better (more light) picture.
2. Make a spore print.http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23994
I'm pretty sure that no one will help you until you make one.
3 Accurate mushroom descriptions

Freezing will ruin them by the way...might as well just throw them out. You can through them in the freezer if they are dried but you will pretty much destroy the shroom if you freeze it while it's still fresh.

its very doubtful that you have a psilocybin mushroom, but I'm interested to see what the sporeprint color comes out to be. Most likely black.

Ok, I might be able to pinpoint this but ID wait for a second opinion. They are definately non-active but I would say these guys are either the Panaeolus campanulatus or the Panaeolus sphintrinus Im all out of Kilobyes but this is one of the 3 Cope (pan Cyan) lookalikes that inhabits the dung of 4 legged creatures in southern US...check out the bottom of this site for a possible resemblence: http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/ggreatone%20234/

here is a pic of the Panaeolus campanulatus

It very well might be the shintrinus though...in either case, they are inactive.
