Identification of South Florida Shroom (part 2)
    #5851737 -

Hello all, I found a bunch of these around my place and was wondering if anyone can identify this strain. Thanks in advance!!

Habitat - South Florida (high humidity), found on in thicker St Augustine grass in less traveled area. approx 19' above sea level. Tons of them all over, fairly common I believe.

Characteristics of the gills - attached, off white gills, easily ripped
Characteristics of the stem - 3-6" thick, hollow, off-white, beefy
Cap - 3-6" (some are monsters), nipple in center, smooth
Spore print - unknown
Mushroom bruises - see last pic, bruises are turning a light bluishg/green/dark under the gills, the caps appear to stay a whiter color

Ok I see pictures now.

Those are Chlorophyllum molybdites. They are poisonous.

Chlorophyllum molybdites

I don't think anybody is keeping track of strains for these. :smirk:

You can do a google search if you want to find the name of the poison. I think Muscarine.

Seems to be a mixed bag of chemicals in this mushroom. There have been cases where the syndrome was very similar to muscarine poisoning going back to the early 70s (at least). But not every case manifests that way, and I'm not sure that muscarine has actualy been isolated from the mushroom. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Other people have had abnormalities in the ability of their blood to form clots after eating this mushroom, which contributes to the explosively bloody diarrhea that many people get from eating it.

In any case, this musrhoom is bad news! And yet like the deadly amanitas, so beautiful.
