New to south florida hunting

Can anyone help me out. I am new to the south florida picking scene. Im in deerfield beach, last city north in broward, right below boca raton. ive been told to check out davie and the florida trail. anyone know of any other good locations? if anything pm me

I live in South Florida and I have yet to find wild shrooms.
Granted, I haven't done alot of hunting and I'm probably just not looking in the right place.
I know they're out there, because I have friends that have found them. But hell, one of my
friends OWNS a cow pasture and I've walked that field pretty frequently. So I gave up and
decided to just try to grow them. Alot less time wasted that way.

Of course, I'm not actually growing them since that would be illegal.

Note that asking for locations is a definite no-no on these boards, as far as I know, that also goes for PMs. Although probably nobody will actually check your PMs for this...

Anyway, to prevent certain fields being overpicked and their owners getting angry with shroom hunters, I think it's best to find yourself some new fields. It's also part of the fun, isn't it?

Ah well, so you know your way around in the state? Go out and keep an eye on any field that looks appropriate. Study the fruiting preferences of cubes to find out which fields have potential. Good luck and have fun!

I couldn't say, I don't live in the States and I definitely don't know my way around in FL. But I think I may have read reports of finds in palm beach country, so yeah, perhaps you may be lucky there.

I know a field that right now you could go to and I absolutely promise you if you picked it all day long there'd still be plenty left.

im from swfl. theres really not much south of boca raton. im from ft myers, and there wasnt ever anything good around there, but anything from just north of ft myers all the way up to the border with alabama is good pickin. just stay east of 75. you live on the east coast or west? just drive around in the middle/lower middle of the state, its allllllllllllll cowfields. good luck after this rain yall have been having. if you want, i had some outdoor grows in ft myers that might be poppin up with all this rain.

doh, sorry man, i just read my post. boca raton is east coast i know. and im from west coast. but just stay north of 75. and west of 1 i guess. a good 100 mile drive north would end up in a good day of pickin (hopefully)

stay north of sarasota to be safe. there isnt (IMO/IME) much south or there. stay inland too. the whole damn center of the state is fields and the majority seems to have cattle.

edit: i keep forgetting youre on the east coast

Mushroom hunting can be a dangerous sport (the Darwin theory applies), there are things you need to know:

Read THIS page,
as you get to the bottom, you will find links to pages [that were actually written in FL] that will help you find what you are looking for.

So, if you do your homework, you may get rewarded. If not, trouble awaits.

well after work this morning. i came to find out that a friend of mine knows a field which is actually huge. went there this morning. cow shit everywhere, really wet from 2 days of strong rain, nothing poppin up but it was also kind of chilly. was no where near mid 80's

Nice avatar Chemy, that Family Guy clip is halarious.

If you drive away from the coast and into the country along backroads you will find out that Florida is basically just one big cow pasture. But I would not go into 95% of those fields, use good judgement, because real-Florida has a lot of somewhat dangerous rednecks and the police force is obviously uncanny about trespassers.

Here I put a red X in the places you won't find cow pastures in Florida.

They can be found pretty much everywhere else.



Man I have never really used google to find a pasture to hunt shrooms on, only to look at them after I already know it is a good spot to hunt at.

but wouldnt u suggest stayin at least north of okeechobee? hope on 27 from everglades city and go north. not only is that all beautiful scenic driving. but youre cutting right thru all the good stuff. and i painted that road. so youll get to see some of my work. hell i painted most of the roads sarasota and south. enjoy. i hope if youve lived anywhere else in the country youve noticed how much better FL roadways are than everywhere else...like they just make more sense.

im rambling now. have a fun hunt. like i said wish i could go. post pics of the countless finds guys! GL

careful. I know people who own pastures in that EXACT location. For one, I've checked frequently and I've never
found mushrooms there. Second, the people there don't take kindly to strangers being in their pastures. I know,
because I have a friend that lives within a couple miles of where you're talking about.

well im thinkin bout this. ive been in south florida my entire life. moved to jersey and moved to orlando, hated both of them. tampa seems to have a lot more for me to do and rent on houses is really cheap.

I'm bumping this topic back up to the top....I haven't been to involved with hunting lately but I would definitely enjoy hunting with other locals that post on this board. I have had success in the past in Broward County but it is risky business since it is a very busy metropolitan area....I get free gas so I can make drives to places that would be worth it...

Crazy how many postings in this thread are talking specific local. Read the rules fellas. But- on another note: I have gotten both cubes and copes in almost every part of florida except the keys and the west everglades. You just have to get out there and look. find pastures, and look hard. Once you find one, thousands will soon follow suit. Trust me- we've been pullin in trash bags full for 10+ years- all over florida!
