I love all sorts of music, everything from classical to some rap.....The Dead & SCI just happen to be my favorites.....there's this......"feeling" about them that is indescrible, some get  it, some don't. Those that get it are the heads, and are very, very lucky!  :gd_icon: :sun: :peace:

So true about the dead.

Love SCI but never felt as strongly about them as I did about the GD. I was really turned off by their sound at the tweeter nov 26th 2004. They sounded great but a tad too.... carribean.

I think whats so special about the grateful dead (and a bit of phish) is the consistency of excellence that was always found in there music. Emotion, chaos, beauty... its always there.

And sorry bout the rambling of bands, I thought you were asking for artists other then phish/GD.

A certain indescrible feeling, some people get it, others don't......as I said earlier, those that do are incredibly lucky, as it is a beautiful thing!

Do you live around NJ, or were you touring with the band?

I reside in the good ol' town of Cherry Hill

I don't know how to explain it, as Dark Star said "A certain indescrible feeling" is conveyed through their music.

Ratdog is good, but it never cut it for me.

GD's music is so true and pure.

That night Robert Randolph and the Family Band were kicking major ass. Only time I saw him rock out like that was when he opened for Clapton.

I've only seen randolph 4 times though, so it was by no means his best.

Hell yeah, Randolph was pumping...what section were you in?  Ricochet...yeah, it's a damn shame, but you're right; so many people go to jamband shows to get fucked up, and just to say they were there these days.....and they have no regard for the scene, or the ethics of the scene. The whole "kids & the custies" thing really irritates me.....goes completely against the whole point of the scene.  :nonono:

I was in the pit, for a while I was right in the front, but during the first SCI set I went to the bathroom and there was no way I was getting that spot again.

My favorite jam that whole night was at the end of the 1st set when Robert Randolph and String Cheese were Jamming together. I was standing right in front of Randolph's amp. It was incredibly loud, my ears were buzzing for a while.

It was all worth it.

Yeah I was in the pit as well, spent the first set chilling with an old head who'd been touring with the Dead since 72, got pretty close the second set....I could barely hear during the intermissions, and afterwords.  As you said though, it was worth it, what a night!

at that show I realized how much the Tweeter enforces their "No lids whatsoever" rule, had a good time arguing with the lady over how I wanted a lid for my sprite. It was all in good fun

   Yeah man, the Tweeter is gestapo-like, security didn't seem too bad that night, although I was rolling real hard, so that might have skewed my perception of things.
