Favorite Grateful Dead Show(s)

I was never fortunate enough to see the Dead play, and I have'nt heard many of their shows outside the Dicks Picks Series, but from what i have heard There is a lot that impreses me beyond words and it's hard to say one show is better than another. I'm asking for people, especially those who have actually seen them or have a large collection of Grateful Dead bootlegs to give their favorite Show or shows if you can't pick only one, and mabey tell why you chose that particular show.
Like i said, i have not heard a tremendous amount, mabey half of the DP's and a few others aside from those, but my favorite so far is DP 16- 11/8/69 from The Fillmore Auditorium. The second set consists of one long jam that extends across two full cd's and is the most amazing peice of music i have heard to date, I am absolutley in love with this Dead show and listen to it religiously. Here's the set list:
Set 1- 1.Good morning little school girl 2.Casey Jones 3.Dire Wolf 4.Easy Wind 5.China Cat Sunflower > I know you Rider > High Time 8. Mama Tried 9.Good Lovin 10.Cumberland Blues.
Set 2- 1.Dark Star > The Other One > Dark Star > Uncle John's Band Jam > Dark Star > St. Stephen > The Eleven > Caution > The Main Ten > Caution > Feedback > We Bid you Goodnight > Turn on Your Lovelight.
Also, if anyone knows any shows that has some really early songs on it, like New Potato Caboose, Born Cross Eyed, or Alligator, i would be interested in hearing about them.
Peace

Such a question man. Shit were to begin. As for every show theres no way to pick . So many Gems!!!!!!!!! My favorite years are 68-78
As for shows I was at ,thats an even harder question. I saw them between 86-95 close to 400 times including Jerry Garcia Band. So many good shows ,but a few that stand out 1.-My first at the spectrum. I had no ticket or money and someone dosed me and an old beautiful grey haired lady walk up to me as I was standing their watching the world melt and said" here its time for you to go inside now" and gave me a 2. Jerry on broadway 1987 3. Jerry at the Warfield in San Fracisco. Every year 4. Dead at Red Rocks and Telluride August 87 5. Dead at the Frost 6. Dear Creek any year 7 . MSG 91 fall run 8. Spectrum spring tour 94 The first night they paly Unbroken Chain, not a dry eye in the house. 9.acoustic in Berkley 93 or 94 10. Greek Theater In Berkley
Shit man I'm quiting now or this will take forever.
Egypt would have been nice even though they didn't play spectacular

Damn I haven't been on this site in YEARS! So glad to see it's still goin' strong. Seems like many more Deadheads on here now than before. Anyway, this is my first post in a long while.
My favorite Dead show that I've attended (I only got to 3) was definately the Unbroken Chain show in Philly that Chinacat mentioned. It was my first show, and I didn't really understand the significance of that song at the time and didn't get why everybody was flipping out over it. All I did know was the energy and emotion of that moment coupled with the staggering experience of seeing my first Dead show knocked my fucking socks off and I was hooked for life.
I'm extremely jealous of all you elders who got to see the boys tons of time in their prime. I mean there's plenty of great music out there today but I think I would trade it all to be able to do one summer tour with the Grateful Dead.

I have no real favorite it just depends on my mood. I've got like 300 cds and I just put them on randomly and I'm never dissapointed. You can download over 350 shows from the dead on www.gdlive.com . Check it out.

I just don't think its possible. So many shows and so many golden moments .If I could though I'd love to back in time and see them do a Dark Star>St. Stepen>Elevin. Something from69 or 70. All three song's are a masterpiece and flow perfectly together.

Yeah 5-8-77 is a classic. Every collector of their music should have that one in their collection.
Set 1: New Minglewood Blues [4:47] ; Loser [7:30] ; El Paso [4:22] ; They Love Each Other [6:59] ; Jack Straw [6:00] ; Deal [5:43] ; Lazy Lightnin' [3:29] > Supplication [4:21] ; Brown Eyed Women [5:12] ; Mama Tried [2:37] ; Row Jimmy [10:52] ; Dancing In The Street [15:43]
Set 2: Two Scarlet Begonias [9:14] > Fire On The Mountain [15:21] ; Estimated Prophet [8:32] ; Saint Stephen [4:43] > Not Fade Away [16:22] > Saint Stephen [1:53] > Morning Dew [13:36]
Encore: One More Saturday Night [4:54]
And the sound quality of the recording I have is an A+.

I have to get in on this!!!!
Well like Chinacat said where to start! My first show was in 75 and I only saw them about 120 times with about 25 or 30 JGB shows!
Englishtown stands out I think it was in 78 I know it's released on a Picks! Broadway was great as was 8 nights at Radio City!
My favorite years are from 68 through 78 and some of the early shows are great.
Well Im rambling cause I just got back and saw this thread....
More to come
