Hi, uh... I'm new here...

i was thinking about this recently and i wonder if anyone has an opinion on this,

i was thinking about the way that numbers feel. it's hard to explain what i mean but when i see the number '5' for example i get a feeling of roundness. maybe that's just because money is in quantities of five and i associate it that way. or when i see a '4' i see corners, '3' i picture sharper corners and so forth. it's not just a mental image though, it's almost like the numbers have an 'essence'. i hope that doesn't sound too loopy for anyone, but that's why i ask. i'm curious to know the way that numbers make you feel.

oh yeah, i am your pupil and i'm open (dilated) for you to teach me. ; )

Well, if you were to observe for a moment, would you consider the #1 to be the most satisfying number of them all....?   
The "smoothest feeling" number of them all...?    Or pehaps it is #0....?

well, to be totally honest my favorite numbers are 3 and 6. I'm not sure why, they just feel good. you know how people think that 7 is a lucky number? i'm not sure how that got started. i tend to get an awkward feeling about prime numbers (like 7) but then even numbers like 4 or 8 just seem bland, or rigid to me. do you know what I mean? that's why I like 6. I know it's often thought of as an 'evil' number, for some reason (or maybe it's only when there's three sixes). i like 6 because it is an even number that has alot of '3' properties, if that makes sense.

i guess to answer you're question, if i had to choose between 1 and 0 only, then i would pick 1. i don't know if i could explain why. maybe it's because i prefer something over nothing.

There are a few schools of thought on this, but the one i know of is taking the equivalent numbers of the letters of your name, and adding them up, and making assumptions based on their single addition together.
ex: (and this isnt right) Adam Neusbaum = 91 = 9 + 1= 10

10= strong willed person, yet stubborn at times
1 + 0 = 1 = a whole person, independant and socially adept.

Like astrology, but with numbers of your name.

Well, I am a "square", and fitting as I brought up tonight in another thread that my "favorite" number is #4....  :lol:   
But hey, those squares are pretty solid....  Add a little depth to them and you get cubed in the 3rd Dimension....  :wink:
And I see nothing but a "stable" foundation to build upon.....  :grin:

HHhhhmmmm....  You picked #3 as being the first one listed (a prime number) to be your favorite....  All 3 sided polygons are the sharpest of them all....    You could poke an "I" out with one of those....  :smirk:


So you picked #1 out of my choices of #1 and #0....  Well, a non-polygon with one side would be a circle, and thus the "smoothest feeling" shape I can logically think of....    But, between #1 & #0, you really can't go *wrong*....  For a zero has a shape very close to a circle....   

Pretty smooth huh...?

that just reminds me of shapes with 5, 4, and 3 sides... a triangle has sharper corners than a square. and a pentagon's points are bigger than 90 degrees, so it starts to seem like just a circle. ('just' a circle...)

I know what you mean though, number feelings. I have colours too, 5 is pretty yellow, 2 and 3 are in the blueish/purplish area, four is more a sky blue, ummm, 9 is orange, etc. 5 and 7 are my favorites, I think. actually I just prefer odds to evens, all the way down. and to me 6 feels like it's tinged with oddness, maybe because of its threeness.

ha ha ha, that's pretty funny! i'm not that superstitious about numbers or anything, but don't they give you a sort of feeling? or am i just crazy? even if that feeling is nothing more than an psychological association or something. i feel like numbers fit together a certain way (as they do in mathmatics) but i can almost picture it in my mind, although it's not a crystal clear image, it's more like an impression. am i making any sense?

My favorite number being #4, and my favorite color being "aqua-teal-deep-blue" (is that a color...?  I can see it....  :smile: ).... 
I just always associated the two favs as connecting somehow (perhaps subconsciously?).... 
Damn squishy circuits....  Feeling colors and numbers as relative...?    HHhhmmmm.... 
Must be a short circuit somewhere....!    :tongue:  Time for a tune up...!?
