Using a heating pad in addition to double tub aquarium incubator? Safe or Not?

So afoaf has a double tub w/ a 50 watt aquarium heater. Doesn't reach desired temp therefore wanted to add heating pad inside not on the bottom but on top of the jars...then put a couple towels above that to keep the heat in. Sometimes he even uses a foil blanket in addition but I doubt it does much. I bet all the humidity from the jars inculating inside may fuck up the heating pad and possibly cause a fire! What do you think...Anyone ever try this? Thanks Rudiger420 :mushroom2:

IMHO, a much more effective incubator setup is a large plastic igloo cooler, with a small terrarium heater, adjustable temp controller, and a stick on thermometer (all from the lizard dept at your local pet store). You have to play around initially to get the temp right (and adjust as the ambient temps change), but it works like a charm once you do, and no messy water to worry about or refill.
