i dont think it would be healthy.
what we need to do is make it work for us instead of having it guide our desicions.
as Mckenna puts it ull need at least enuff to put food in your own mouth instead of some1 elses.

as for supressing emotions... has any1 seen the movie "Equalibrium" ?

I doubt anyone in the thread will, in their natural lifespan, lose their ego and experience a reality void of emotion, so why not try and turn them into a positive or constructive force?

Anger can be quite motivating. Many physical endeavors include and harness emotions as a big +.

Will anyone tell Mike Tyson or Ray Lewis or any other 'angry' athlete that the emotion they attribute to their excellence was actually a hinderance and they didn't know it?

see, now me saying that I have no ego (re: very very minimal) appears as an egotistical statement. why?!

honestly though, there is no self, and I have accepted the ego as deception. I consciously create masks only when necessary for communication with humans who identify with 'ego's.

The ego is the self-cherishing attitude that puts oneself's needs above the needs of others.

To be free of this, we cannot just simply say 'i have accepted the ego as deception', that would be wishful thinking. One has to (to borrow a line from carlos casteneda) continually cut the head off the demon of self-importance.

To successfully do this we have to continually observe ourseleves and how we are interacting with others on the level of body, speech, and mind.

so deff. i am with you 100% on that post, but hey - it would impossible for me to get you angry? I think there is a decent chance I could have pissed off the Buddha on a bad day.

Anyway, You reach a certain realization, but you are still for the most part human. So why not work from their instead of aspiring to an impossible fleeting ideal of emotionless, continually egoless living?
