Re-inoculate?
    #3779205 -

Let's say the Village Idiot inoculated 10 BRF 1/2pt jars.

Then the VI put the jars into the incubation chamber, where temperatures reached 78 degrees. Being the ambitious type and hoping to accelerate her previous endeavours, the Village Idiot closed the lid on the incubator tightly and came back THE NEXT MORNING to find the inside of the incubator at 110F.

The question is, did the spores die? It's only been 40 hours since the Idiot inoculated, and according to other posts, the chances are good that nothing bad happened. Since there is no mycellium formed, perhaps the spores didn't die and everything will be alright.

Or, should the Village Idiot re-PC the jars now and re-inoculate?

Is such a thing possible?

The Village Idiot was thinking that would be wise, since only 2 days have been lost, and if there is only Verm, BRF and a few dead spores in there, why not re-PC and get started again?

Wait to see if the mycellim forms if not Re-PC.

I would say there is a good chance they died but i would let them go for a few more days to see and in the meantime i would make up some new ones just in case then if they are dead you already have the other ones goin. So you only loose a cuple days.

Once i knew a guy who's incubator exceeded 104 degrees (the supposed point of thermal death). Of the 4 jars, only one never developed any mycelium. So I'd say give it a few more days, at least.

Seems like it would be a good idea to wait and see a couple of days, then re-PC.

Thank you all.
