I thought of a different, cheaper way to possibley induce lucid dreaming.

I already like to make ambient mostly bass/ white noise sound files that I listen to while sleeping.

I was thinking of making an ambient type of sound that is a little more distinguishable, that I wouldn't phase right out like a typical white noise sound.

If I listen to this special tailored sound for an hour or so before I go to sleep while doing some tasks, and then again while I try to go to sleep, I think that I might hear the sound in my sleep, realize what it is, then realize that I am dreaming.

However it will be difficult to make a sound like this, because sometimes with the normal ambient sound files I listen to, a tiny chunk of sound gets cut out from winamp looping back to the beginning, and most of the time it makes me jerk awake.

I am thinking of making a type of ambient sound that flucuates in pitch, this may work is long as I can keep it nice and suttle but still distinguishable.

Well, this thing supposedly measures REM sleep, and then gives the cues every time you go into REM sleep. It has sensitivity knobs on how much of a light and aural cue you need. I would buy one if they werent so expensive.
