Drying situation...

It is now time for my friend to enjoy the fruits of his labor...though there aren't alot of mushrooms...things are still pretty good.
The thing is..people that he wants to share his fruits with are scared to eat the shrooms dried with DryX and stuff like that.
They are weirded out by the way they look as well and it's like they just don't trust my friend..
What is the best way to dry the mushrooms so they look more like a mushrooom...while remaining the most potency because of a small crop. Thank you.

No matter how you dry the shrooms, they'll always look nasty and wrinkly. The only way to eat a "normal looking" shroom is to eat it right after you pick it, while it's still fresh...
As long as the shrooms don't touch the dessicant while drying, they're perfectly safe. If you're still afraid that they've "gone bad", then dry them some other way. Dessicant is the best drying method though, IMO.

Shrooms are about 90% water so they are always going to look strange after drying!
I like to keep my dry shrooms in a canning jar along with a little pack of silica. This prevents any moisture from being absorbed by the dry shrooms.
You can get a little silica gel pac from any box of shoes or jsut go to your local shoe store and take one oout of a box or jsut ask. They jsut get thrown away.
Or check out the thread in the vendor forum about *free* silica pacs!

Hey.. even fan drying makes them look nasty....
do this... put them in a bowl.. pour dry rice [ ORGANiC!! heh ]
all over them... and stick a fan blowing on low into them...
then you can tell your friends how you dried them without worries about
them getting sickened..
peace
