Moe-

Please respond to me or someone. I am using your drying tek which involves putting your guys into a box with the walls plastered in aluminum foil. Then I put a black shirt over the shrooms and set up a 75 watt lightbulb around 12 - 16 inches from them and leave it on for 24 hours. Anyone notice a loss in potency? I heard this works out pretty well.

I used a rough variation of this tek when I was a kid drying libertys and didn't notice any loss of potency to note that I remember..

ive tried a variation of that and found potency to be lower than some of the same flush dried with merely a fan. i no longer dry specimens either of the ways, i use either cat litter that is only silicia pellets , or damp rid. they work better than any way ive tried!

On the cat litter subject do you just put cat litter in a tub and put the Wet ones on a screen above them and do you fan dry any??

The kitty litter is just like any other dessicant. The reason you can use kitty litter instead of fanning is because it is cheap so you can use pounds of the stuff. If you were to not use a fan and use damp rid you would have to buy several pounds of it as well.

The type of kitty liiter you would want is the silica gel kind.
Cheap way to get silica. :smile:

so are we all agreeing that YES do dry with a light bulb or NO because of potency loss. I've got about half an ounce with the light job and I don't want this to be fucked up.

I've been reading and sounds like Drying with a Fan is just as bad since Psylocin degrades with the help of oxygen and heat. I would think that pushing all this air onto your guys is just as bad as drying them with a mild heating chamber reaching temps of near 90 degrees.

This is a rediculous question. Heat degrades potency and thus a box with a black outer layer is used for drying. The concept is heat. Jesus.

What are you talking about TrippingBillies? Heat degrading potency is a pretty big speculation around here it seems. Sounds like if you get temps way up there say with boiling water to make tea there usually is loss. However, 90 degree temps in a reflector box compared to having a fan blow on those bitches for 3 days is about the same loss in potency, psylocin speaking.

What i do for the silica gel is as follows, i find that the whole screen thing to set the shrooms on is kind of stupid and time consuming to make.

all you have to do is get a tupaware container that will hold I'd say 3 quarts or so. Put a small container inside, around 1/4 the size of the bigger container and set it on the bottom. Fill it completely to the top around the smaller container with your damp rid or your silica gel, ect. then put your shrooms inside the little container and voila. The gel will suck the moisture out faster than a hooker on Venice Blvd. on a Sunday afternoon.

It is more effective if the dessicant is directly below the fruit. The word of Moe Howard is never wrong, never! You need around 110 degrees for there to be any potency loss so you should be fine.

Has anyone here used a food dehydrator to dry their shrooms, like the "As seen on Tv" ones. They look like a great way, but what do i know, i havnt tried it. I was thinking about purchasing one of these but I wasnt sure if for some reason it would cause a drop in potency.

About the tea. When your lazy or you attempt to dry in saturated silica gel, they turn blue, this is a loss of potency. When you boil them for tea, they turn blue, the substances are obviously oxidizing, or atleast being drawn to the surface, in air or water. I've read that in the water while boiling they pass their prize to the water, for tea. In the air it is lost, evaporation.
