Hey, check out the "Inner Resevoir" Tek on pf's site... it was put up a week ago or so. What do you guys think about this? Think success was largely due to his experience? I have done 36 jars regular pf style and I am considering doing B+ and Maz jars w/ this tek. Anyone understand exactly what he means by filling this resevoir w/ dry verm? Will mycelium grow into the dry verm or will it still be loose in there when you pop out the cake?
Oooo this tea tastes like dirt, what is it....?

The inner reservoir will definitely help your cakes, which means more mushrooms for you to enjoy. You might not get the same results as his site shows, because he is very experienced and probably did the best for those cakes. But the inner-reservoir will definitely increases flushes/yeilds. "Filling the reservoir with dry verm." means exactly that. You make a small cylinder-shaped hole in the center of the substrate, and then you fill it back up with dry vermiculite, the same verm. that you use for the top 1/2 inch of the jar. Mycelium might grow into this reservoir, but only little strands of it here and there, like it does to the very top of the jar. Verm. has no nutritional value, so they wont go there much.

How about his use of verm for humidity? And placing the cakes directly onto the verm... good idea?

You mean using verm. in a terrarium for humidity instead or perlite? Yes, this will work, but perlite is better. You should only place the cakes directly onto the verm. for a few days, and you should only do this if they need the moisture (ie: they are blueing)
