Ridding yourself of green mold forever?
    #368704 - 08/08/01 10:49 AM (23 years, 2 months ago)

Alright i don't know if there is any discussion about this, so i won't hype it up. But it works wonders for me.
Anyway, my friends chimp's last few cultures were split, half the jars were put inside his house (fairly consistant 75-80 degrees) and the other jars were put outside in a shed where temperatures range from 80-100. Most of the ones in the house started a network but were overtaken with green mold. The ones in teh shed would grow and die back (i presume because of the heat). So he took those and put them back into the house, where they colonized beutifully. The contaminated ones were put out in the shed, where they grew and died back a few times, and where put back inside the house. Slow growth, but no more green mold. It could be a coincidence but i doubt it. Anyone know the max temp for the green mold to live. Psilocybe Cubensis (btw), they might outdo its max temp or at least grow a little better than the green mold and take it over. I'm not sure but it works great for him. I don't beleive he'll ever have to throw out a jar again...Unless god forbid, the magic shed doesn't produce the same conditions next summer :(

Anyone else had similar experiences?

yeah, my last jar that went to the green. i took out of the incubation chamber, and found that in the colder temps the green stopped spreading and the mycelium overran it...
