Mycelium-water solution...
    #368349 -

I made a mixtue of mycelium-water from removing the center of a colonized cake, and used the mixture to innoculate 24 1/2 pint jars. I have a few jars with the solid white mycelium in them, but ALL of them have the cottony-white mycelium growing all over. One jar looks like it is full of cotton candy. It seems as though the cotton type is spreading rapidly, where the solid white mycelium is very slow. It also looks like I am going to lose a couple to contam. Has anyone had experience with this? and what was the end result?

I've never had experience with doing that, but I can tell you one thing... That cottony growth is not as strong as the rhizomorphic (sp?) growth. Maybe you've got all cottony growth because of the method that you used. The mycelium is not as strong, and it will produce smaller yeilds. I don't know, try it out and see how it goes...

sounds like that cottony shit is cobweb mold - i have used mycelium water (but, germinated spores in malt water), then hit the solution with h202 to kill contam and innoculated the next day - this has proved successful, with first signs of growth in the jars as fast as two days later...
