This sounds normal to me as long as it is all white. DON'T UNSCREW THE LIDS AND LOOK IN THOUGH!! You probalbly just breathed a million tiny living organisms into your jars!

good observation he he... well yes what you discribed is normal... there are two types of mycelium growth, rhizomorphic and cottony. rhizomorphic is the second type of mycelium you discribed. cottony mycelium is not something you want.

Be careful. Do you have a layer of dry vermiculite on top of your cakes??? If so, and if the white fuzzy stuff is on it, you may have a touch of cobweb mold.

Cobweb mold looks very similar to mycelium. BUT. mycelium won't grow on dry vermiculte. Cobweb mold will.

You can lightly spray hyrogen peroxide on it...give it a shot
