old mycelium solution = tiny fruits?
    #2296154 -

this is the situation: i inoc. 4 brf/verm jars with a 4-6 month old mycelium suspension (super old i know) it took about 3-4 weeks to colonize the cakes completely, growth was fast in the begining, but slowed when it reached the bottom of the jars. not contam. i birthed 1 cake, dunked for 24 hours, and put into a perlite humidified terrarium. i fan it 3 times a day, and sometimes i even apply heat to the bottom to increase the humidity inside. my cake is absolutely covered in pins. probably 30-60 in total. the first showed 2 weeks ago. the first ones are now only 1 inch long. i have noticed absolutely no aborts whatsoever. none have black caps.

my question is: is this a weak flush? are these all primordia? is this slow/retarded growth due to old mycelium solution? is the slow growth due to environmental factors? thanks.

this is an old pic (1/18) since then, the fruits on the visible side have grown .5-1 cm and more of those same tiny little pins have showed up all over the cake. no big fruits yet.

I suspect too much humidity. Looks more like balls of flesh instead of real pins. Had that before and didn't turn out very well.

When you get pins (with a visible darker cap and small stem), it usually takes no more than 6 to 8 days to mature. 2 weeks is a lot for 1 cm babies.

Try to lower the humidity, Maybe add some small holes on sides of your terrarium and fan as much as you can. Hooking a fish pump in here could be a nice move.

.fs.

i guess you cant really tell from the pic, all of those pins have caps, they are super tiny little brown dots right in the middle of these little ass nubs, but i will definietly try that out for a day or two, see if it helps. thanks

try the straw tek for pf cakes, insert a straw at the top of the cake and then fill it with water, your cakes might be dry and mushrooms are 90% water, so if you keep them from gettin thirsty you should have some huge flushes
