Indian music
    #3634945 -

That shit trips me out man heheh....

Every time i go to the Indian restaurant they are playing really bizarre and entrancing music. It makes the wait, while they prepare my tandoori chicken, quite pleasant.

I want to get into this type of music in a big way because it is so fucking cool. Next time i go in there i'm gonna take a pen and paper and see if the guy will list off some good Indian musicians for me to check out.

BUT in the meantime, if you know anything about it then suggest some good places to for me to start.

Yes yes...ravi shankar..what else?

thx  :tongue2:

Karsh Kale is sort of Indian. Tabla Beat Science is dank Indian music. You need to check out dj Cheb i Sabbah, too! You will love it!!

By the way, Danksistah told me what artists to tell you about, so I can't take credit. :smirk:

cool thank you and danksistah  I've actually heard some tabla beat science before and it was pretty good as i recall. The others are unfamiliar so i will check them out too.

Also, the newer types of Indian music are welcomed as suggestions but don't hesitate to suggest some of the more traditional types of stuff as well. That's the stuff i really like ya know. There really ethnic sounding mind fuck Indian music.

Zakir Hussain - amazing tabla player who collaborated with Ravi Shankar as well as many Western musicians including most noteably, in my opinion, Shakti alongside John McLaughlin...amazing fusion of music of the East and West. he's also played with George Harrison, the Dead, etc. for those interested. seeing him play live is humbling, especially I think to drummers and those who play other percussion instruments. so calculated and insanely technical yet hugely spiritual and emotional.

Yea, Hussain is probably the single most dexterous percussionist on the planet.  He's the tabla god.  I recommend the album Sambandh - awesome percussion.
