Wbs qt's doing good, WHY NOT BAGS???

My 1st bag did great, 4 lb's in 12 days, same as qt jar.I like that.
But now the GREEN shows up in 3 of 6 bags just after myc starts growing.What could I be doing wrong? Water content to high?

Got to bet this problem.NEED some feed back.Doing everything as sterile as possible :sad:

Big bags = more mass = raise PC time to 120 minutes

I have been PCing 120 min. 2 bags 5 to 6 lb's each in an AA925.
That PC is full also have 2 towels in there so bags don't melt on sides.
Should I add another 30 min?

If you PC that long, longer will not help.

Either somethings bunk in syringe, or getting in while you are injecting.

Generally, if a syringe is bunk, everything out of it goes bunk.

I'll do some pf teks on my syringes.Will know fast if its syringes or contam'ed.Hope its not my work area keep that super clean but will reclean just to be sure.

All of it.Just ordered 2ft x 4ft 99.99 hepa filter, already have squirel cage. It will be great to get out of that positive air flow box.Its so cramp.Also converting refeg into inncubator.After this I'll have to find some eatables. :mushroom2:

How do you inject into the bags? I've had terrible times with mycobags. I injected and flame sterilized the needle and wiped it with alcohol however I didnt wipe the outside of the bag where I injected with alcohol. BIG mistake. Plus the bags have to be sitting on a surface NOT moving AT ALL. Bags will suck in air as you move them and if you dont swab with alcohol first your asking for trouble.

If I used bags i'd definately tape a coffee filter over the filter patch, or something similar. Even a bandaid whose cloth patch has been saturated with alcohol or lysol.

It's probably not a water content issue.

Probably a contam issue due to not cleaning the syringe inbetween injecting each bag or something to do with contams getting in during inoculation.
Make sure and clean the outside of the bag where you are injecting into.

Did you make up these bags or buy them pre-made?

Like Agar said...its not a bunk syringe if some of the bags are growing mycelium.

AFOAF had the same problem with bags and it turned out his impulse sealer wasn't getting an airtight seal.

Impulse sealers are tricky and it can help to have two seals right next to eachother on the bag..

Here's how I seal mycobags:
Make one seal, flip the bag over and seal over the first seal on the other side of the bag. Then I make another seal about 1/2" above that and double seal like before. It might be weird but that's what I like to do.

Looks like spore syringe was contam'ed.Did a test with some pf jars.4 out of 20 bad and those 4 were made from same print.(Glad I put a print # on syringes.)
Don't know why unless spore print got contam'ed.

Always wipe bag with alcohol but have to let it dry completely or tape will not stick.
