need terrarium advice

Peace and Good Will I am moving along with my terrarium-in-a-sea-chest project and have hit a stumbling block. How am I going to drain this thing? I am making 2 compartments- 1 at about 3/4 of the size for the goodies to grow in and the other quarter to hold the ultrasonic humidifier (on a digital timer) and various electronics. Based on good advice I got here, I am using an aquarium air pump for air circulation. I plan to get plexiglass cut to enclose the sides of the growing area as well as a removable plexiglass cover slanted beneath the kitchen-type flourescent light mounted on the underside of the top of the sea chest. I need an elegant solution for water drainage, though. I have though of plastic food-serving trays with a hole cut, but tha6t seems pretty clumsy. Any ideas? Who has gone in this direction before? All feedback is appreciated. Abe

you can siffon it every few days. put the terrarium in a high place and then stick an air hose (for an aquarium) in the deepest part of the water. put the other end lower than the end in the water and then suck untill water comes out. once water starts coming out it will do the rest. just put something for the water to go into. where did you get a digital timer? ive been working on a setup alot like yours but i havent found any good timers
i may, fucking drop something natural somewhere and it might grow into another piece of shit like you. i dont recognize any of you fucking people, youre not real, you came ot of comic books.

Found a digital timer at Home Depot, amidst the regular timers. I forget the price, but I think it was about $20. Worth it- can program for whatever time intervals I want up to, I think, 14x a day. I got it because the minimum 1/2 hour setting of the others would have my humidifier running too long. Elevating the terrarium to siphon is not real practical, this thing being mysteriously hidden in a big chest and all. . . other ideas for getting the water out/draining it? Abe

The digital timer sounds cool... You could put a fake bottom inside the chest which has a slight grade allowing excess water to flow into one corner where you can syphon it out. But....where is all this water coming from? There shouldn't be so much that it needs to be drained.
