My dad lost $1,000 in the mail
    #3594249 -

My dad is a really smart guy, but he has put way too much trust in the US postal service. For years he's been sending cash through the mail in a card without problem. That all changed last month.

Last month, my dad put 10 - $100 bills in a card and envelope and sent it to my sister. Well he wrote the wrong address on the envelope(off by one number) and needless to say, the letter never made it. My sister went to the house that the letter most likely ended up and asked if they recieved the letter. The young girl with a baby in her arms who answered the door said she hadn't recieved it and told my sister that she'd call her if she did recieve it. Well, the letter never made it to my sister and no one called her. The money is gone.

My dad thought about getting a cashier's check, but decided that the money would make it since he had tempted fate and won so many times before. Not this time. Some young girl with a baby is now $1,000 richer just like that. Either that, or she threw it away when she didn't recognize the name of the envelope.

Or the mailman felt there was a lot of money in side the envelope.

That happens too sometimes.

Yeah, that's another possiblity but it seems less likely to me than the other two. He feels sick about this though. Instead of "422", he sent it to "922". :nonono:

i would have spent the extra cash and gone fedex or something.... tracking, delivery confirmation, etc....

usps has a tendancy to loose shit... i swear, i didnt realize untill i started mailing things regularly.... took 2 months to get my bank card, by then i already had a new one (that they sent fedex)

Sorry man, that sucks.

The truth is that the USPS is more open to thievery than ever before.

I've had two packages full of cash (total of $550.00) "dissapear" in the system despite the fact I sent them both via priority.

I truely believe that since more packages are being x-rayed these days, more money is being stolen.

Yeah, he knew that you shouldn't send cash through usps, but just got lazy and did it anyway since he had had no trouble in the past.

Boxtop: Whoa, that's not cool. Hopefully our stories here will warn other people not to send cash through the usps!

My dad deserved to lose the money and the girl with the kid deserved to get the money?

There's no such thing as karma. This can be demonstrated by looking at bad people who live on easy street.

I think you're joking, right? You don't really believe that everyone "deserves" the bad things that happens to them.

Yes they do. Many evil people get rich and live in the lap of luxury until the day they die. There isn't some God sitting on a cloud in heaven taking score and handing out Hollywood endings where the good guy wins in the end. Most likely, we're all "God" and "all one". Therefore, there can be no God handing out punishments. There is no one to punish.

Actually, I do. It's a conclusion I've arrived at through my own personal experience and observations, which of course are hopelessly subjective, but hey what can ya do.

Ah, but they do die.

I agree. My own view consists more of a cosmic balance in which voids will be filled and energies seek to balance themselves. Ever seen the movie Natural Born Killers? Some people are here to be evil. Hitler was a necessary mutation of the human race, so that millions could learn from his evil doings. Nature is like that, she doesn't give a fuck. She is beyond our "good and evil" definitions, actually. All I can say about this is that voids will be filled and the cosmos always seeks to balance itself.

...This is why I believe America is going down the shithole in the very near future.

So you believe that a little girl who gets raped and tortured, "deserved" it? Maybe on a cosmic level she decided to play that part, but that's as close as i'd come to saying that she had it coming.

Bad people dieing is proof of karma? Good people die to dude. So unless you believe in "hell", the bad people won't be punished when they die either. Because the bad people are just equal parts of the "all in one".

I agree. Some people, perhaps all people, seem to be controlled by a confluence of forces.

There's always a lesson, however horrible.

I believe in reincarnation, and the closest thing to "hell" lies within our reality, in forms such as little girls being raped and tortured.

What's the lesson in a little girl being raped and tortured? What could the child have done to deserve that?

Maybe the little girl was a rapist in a past incarnation.

Oh the vicious cycles. Ever wonder why people are compelled to do such horrible things? I attribute it to cycles of incarnation.
